the difference then, is when one takes history into account, you seem to only be able to go back as far as our previous encounters, i on the other hand am forced to go back much further..
i am not saying, you have not been in encounters before, but i am saying that i have a sore spot FOR the subject.. i will always consider it a personal affront, when one uses my quote as a basis for determining the realism of an argument, simply because people assume Orph=argument, or at least a fair majority do.
whether a particular disagreement begins at point A or X or Z is unimportant, what is important, is if its a valid disagreement.. i think its valid to say, i do NOT want anyone quoting my name to confirm a crisis any longer.. please refrain from doing so, i am sure there are 100 other candidates who have been in confrontations as well.. is it my fault that i have been in all 100 with them? :/

Goddammit back to the topic! The most memorable level I've played must have been the third floor in Sytem Shock(yes the orginal. It's so much better than System Shock 2). The lighting and the see through jelly monsters almost made me mess my pants. From the "real" FPS side I must say the most memorable level was Omaha Beach in Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Damn if I find that game from some sale I'll buy it...

Hey Scythe, nice to see you here  BTW, if somebody writes in blue on
these forums, it means they are being sarcastic or joking. A lot of
people haven't realised and gotten angry at some comments - just
thought you should know for Orph's comments!

Orph, I wasn't arguing with you or taking any "past" into questioning ... unless that comment wasn't directed at this forum or me or whatever.
my entire point was, you're not understanding the differences between pc and consoles. DON'T say that PC is better because you go online and generally use it as a computer. Please, don't say that, because EVERY console has that ability. They can be used as developer tools as well. The Dreamcast was the first full fledged one. Meaning, for all you know, I could be here typing on a DC keyboard, using a DC mouse and my DC as a computer.
The same goes for Game Cube and PS2. They're all capable of this. Yeah, xbox is too, but what do you expect from a green computer
And like wise I could use my computer for nothing but gaming ... even console gaming if I chose. So, your view is a little skewed. I understand that its your opinion and you're entitled to that, but you obviously don't know what general computer hardware is capable of.
I would have to say, Reno has a very good outlook on the situation.
(By the way, its very easy to change a next generation console into a computer.)

are you still talking crono? shoot bud, we solved your confusion while you slept..
silly rabbit, trix are for kids
how i view consoles, effects no one but me.. try to read my sentence, as if i were attempting to convey that thought to you, as strange as that may be.. thats all i am trying to do..
consoles are yukky.. as i always tell my wife when she eats something yukky.. "someones gotta like it i suppose"

Back on topic, i've found quite a few of the levels in Ratchet & Clank 2 to be very impressive. So much going on in them, with large draw distances and movement seemingly everywhere

Not bottomless wallets (I waited until it was released on Platinum  ), just lots of spare time that needs to be filled. Living alone and not currently having a girlfriend means lots and lots and gaming to be had

I haven't played "going commando" yet, is it good?
I have the first one which is a wonderful platformer. It is about 10 bucks at game exchange up here, I've thought about checking it out.
You just need to know where to shop. I might spend MAYBE 500 a year on games. Which amounts to about 10 brand new games, which doesn't really happen that often. Most games I buy (other then computer, really) are used. So I usually don't pay more then maybe $25 for a game. And yes, it does require a lot of game hunting to find decent copies and such. I suppose I am more patient then a lot of other people ... then later on those same people ask me how I got money to buy all these really awesome/rare games.
By the way, I played Burnout 3 the other day ... oh man, so awesome. Way better then Burnout 1 or 2.

I don't care. You're wrong.
The thing I like about Burnout 3 is that the cars handle unrealistically well. Which is GREAT. I'm sick of racing games where you can't control the car. It doesn't make sense to make a virtual car handle like its real counter part because you're not physically driving it. You can't feel how its moving or anything else like that.
Secondly, the crashes in 3 are pretty realistic, the cars are a little overdone, but, at least there are actual parts that break off your car and such. Burnout 1 and 2 had really unrealistic crashes.
Look at some real car crash videos, you'll see what I mean. Don't include films, they overblow it too.

Most memorable level...
Hard to think of one, but the first sight of 'The Horse we rode in on - Halo' really made an impact on me. The lonelyness, the feeling you and only you were left... Halo did a good job on that...

Most memorable level? Hmm...the last level from "confrontation" in wolf3d, where you kill Fettgesicht (lol, nice name).
Did you ever notice the names some caracters have? Grettel Grosse, Hans Grosse, Fett-Gesicht, Dr. Scabbs (i think), OTTO GIFT-MACHER. .

yes goldeneye id have to say in my opinion was probably the best FPS on any platform ever because it was so monumental, setting the stage for what our SP and MP experience is today.
That said, my favorite level is probably "Complex" on Goldeneye. My friends and I would slaughter each other in every way possible for hours on end on that map.
Also Operation Overlord from MOHAA was an incredibly immersing experience.
In terms of HL, the first level and the xen world impressed me the most. One day while the internet was out for awhile I played HL about half way through and then paused when the net came back on. I didnt return to it for over a year. Why did I return? Because I kept hearing everyone refering to "g-man" and I was dying to find out what role the sharp looking asshole played in the game. When I finally heard his wierd voice (I hope the sex offender they hired to do it doesn't live near me) I was incredibly surprised.

Actually taking that most games are based off the original Quake engine. I'd say Quake was the most monumental FPS. And with Quake they basically wanted to make a 3D doom ... so ... I'm thinking the originals were the most "monumental".
Also, Goldeneye came out in 1997 ... about the same time HL was suppose to come out (but was delayed a year) ... I think HL had a bigger impact ... but maybe thats just me.
I think all Goldeneye really did was introduce a new genre to console gamers.
Because there were really no fpsers on consoles before Goldeneye.

They were ports. And not very popular ports at that. Remember how they re-released Doom for N64 after Goldeneye was out for like a year?

OK, so they were ports - but still early console fps.
I also forgot about Jurassic Park on the SNES which was a fps for the interiors and top-down for the outdoor areas. I think that was out before Wolf3D and Doom on the SNES.

For the love of god tell me this is playful jest, I'm getting sick and
tired of people pouncing on Ballblue like this. In this case he thinks
differently to you on a matter that ISN'T as simple as right or wrong
(as is often the case in the editing forum).
