If a solid storyline and some incredibly tough missions are all that
you're looking for, then you can have them. If you'd rather spend your
time doing nothing but exploring the city and finding new ways to make
money, destroy property, and dress like a pimp, then you can do that
too. Live the life you want to live; do the things you want to do, it's
entirely up to you. But however you choose to do it, do it now. Drop
everything and do it right now. It's the best PlayStation 2 game ever
made. Period.

I caved in and ordered it for the PS2. Hopefully they'll have fixed the aiming system in this one as i've always found that to be the series' only weak point.

Im getting it tonight from game stop (I pre ordered it  ), but hopefuly the game will be different than GTA3 and GTA:VC, cause like adam said, the aiming is lame.

It was more a reference to the fact that I think i've found a game that I'm more excited over than HL2.

And it comes out this week.

That sounds a little to much to believe... "It's the best PlayStation 2 game ever

", s**t then it HAS to be good. I will wait for the PC version though. Better graphics, better aiming, better everything.

Well, at least they're making this claim on a console after it's been in existence for quite a few years and we're closer to their next platform than the PS1.

Like those damned movies that come out in January touting themselves with reviews of "The best movie this year!"

By the way, Daikatana is the best game ever starting with a 'D' and ending in "aikatana" to have been released on April 14th, 2000. (I looked that up; I didn't know it off the top of my head, I swear!)

correctly - its one of the flagship products for the console

Okay I got the game, and its extremely massive, and beatiful.

But I must warn you, if you are offended by the f-word being said multiple times (like 30 times in the first hour), then don't get it. And only get it if you are willing to spend a lot of time fixing your character up (you have to keep track of your new atributes).

Other than that the game is for you, I really wasnt putting it down or anything, but if you have kids in the house, then play it while they are gone....

Upgrading Skills doesn't sound much, but customising stuff will work
brilliantly in a game where you're just dandering around. Tattoos,
obesity, clothes etc, all the little bits you can tweak really appeal
to me, and would well when you're just running around for the hell of
it, without doing missions. My brother's getting it tomorrow, but god
knows when I'll be able to nick it off him (which peeved me since I
wanted to get it, but its pointless having two copies). The 2 player
sounds a little thrown together...But hey, all I wanted was Vice City
with bells on. Sounds a hell of a lot more!

It's one of those words that's only offensive if someone wants it to be. Sure, it's not the nicest of terms and it's something I would never say either - but you have to bear in mind that it's perfectly fine for a black person to call a friend 'n****r' - but if I were to call them that - even in a friendly way, all hell would break loose.

If you're son has had a decent upbringing (and i'm sure he has), he should understand the consequences of using such a term and the origins. I don't see a problem with him playing the game and recognising this. If you've taught him decent values and to respect others (again...i'm sure you have) - let him play

That said...if he grows up to be a car-jacking hooligan then you 'aint seen me....right?

You don't understand what I meant. I'm not saying I go around saying that to people ... unless I just watched Dave Chappelle or something. What I was asking you was: Since it is a game about crime ... and you're in a gang ... and black ... it never crossed your mind that they would say that word ... a lot?

My question wasn't asking you why you don't say or accept that word ...

Adam, it's because you personally oppressed thousands of black people 130 years before you were born ... didn't you know that?

I live in Florida and the black population at my school is about 40% so I hear the word constantly every day. When you are in my position the word loses meaning to you and I am white. I use to get a chill if I ever thought about saying the word but now I could say "n****r" and feel nothing. Sorry but that is the way I feel now. Eventually the word will lose its meaning just like others such as ghetto, fag, and gay. Although I don't understand why a black person can say it 5 times a second but if I was to say I'd get beat up.

very few things truly upset me.. the "N" word just happens to be one.. i don't cringe, complain or shed tears over it, but i do get upset when people, usually white people, throw the word around like its as normal as saying potato salad..

and to answer the question crono.. i dislike the game already, and you think that word would win me over???

 No.

Also, that doesn't answer my question. I asked if you honestly thought they wouldn't use that word based on the game's settings ... I don't give a s**t if you like the game or not. Thus my not asking the question you answered.
This is the third time I've typed that question out ...
Don't answer it if you don't want to, just stop avoiding it by answering other questions instead.

jeeze crono, the stupid game is strongly stereo typed.. there is no way they would avoid it, they way they have it set up...

there are many other kinds of ghettos, they chose a black one..

so to answer your stupid question, YES they could have avoided it! why does everyone have to answer your silly questions, exactly how you ask them, can't you extrapolate just once?

i may regret my words later today, but right this second... you disappoint me.

Nigga, n****r, negro... negro a spanish word for black. I've never understood this racism thingy. We all belong to the same species after all...

I also don't believe in "protecting" children from real world by not letting them see blood on computer or TV screen. Hell how are they supposed to grow up to deal with the cruel world?

I have to agree with all said, although I could spark off a small row
by saying the truth. Racism only works one way. White people get
prosecuted for it, black people don't. I'll leave it at that though, as
I almost got a few tutors in to a lot of trouble debating it in class a
couple of weeks ago, doesn't seem like the best argument to get in to
here either.

Well, having played GTA:SA I can say that I wouldn't be suprised if a
few killings are blamed on it, tbh. As foul mouthed (I'm Irish, my
first word was probably F****r!) and sick as I am, I feel there is far
too much swearing and the violence is TOO real.

The whole thing I loved about the GTA series was that it was fun, over
the top and pretty cartoony. While the game retains its fun and humour
it is DEFINATELY not for kids this time and should be kept for the
adults (or those of us who think we are). I'm the least prudish person
since the Marqui de Sade, so I'm not in any way offended or shocked by
the game, in fact these element bores me terribly!

While the arguement that its nothing kids haven't seen or heard before
could be used for the previous games, the 'real' element is a step to
far for the younger audience.

Don't get me wrong, the well placed expletive and OTT violence are
something I like in TV shows and films, but only if they serve a
purpose for the plot or have comic timing.

Like Southpark the movie, the uncensored swearing grows tiresome and
cringe-worthy after five minutes. The game borrows heavily from films
about black gang warfare, and has the violence and swearing to match. I
personally don't find it funny, and more impressionable people would
easily get immersed in it.

As I said, I honestly don't think younger people would enjoy it in the
same way adults would. It involves a
lot more hate and actual nastiness in the speech, so this time the idea
seems to be that rather than being a cheeky git that steals cars and
kills people, it gives darker vibes.

I'm not an old fogey like some people cough Orph cough but since
the realism and the overall tone of the series has went from being
ridiculous carjacking and mayhem to this, I honestly think Santa Claus
should avoid this one.

I've had it since Friday but not played it much yet...i've only done up to where you get a haircut - and the swearing does seem excessive this time round, almost as if they've added even more just for the contraversy.

Hopefully the game will be good though, i'll start playing it tomorrow as the Guild Wars trial ends tonight

I am however looking forward to Rockstar's take on 'The Warriors' licence...
