/me is more tired, than lazy, but i did over look it, even when i was point roughly in the correct direction, so perhaps it wasn't completely bad that i noticed..
the little 1 inch square with the links on the far left is not one of those "reach out and grab'ya" things though..
maybe, i should rest before i look next time.

I wish everybody added screenshots to their maps. It makes so much of a difference.
Oh, here's a nice idea for the site - adding a special awards page for maps and prefabs (i.e - most original idea, best aesthetics, greatest gameplay, most useful fab).

I think it might be good to make a resources section of the site, up at
the top bar with maps, editing, etc... At the moment, things like
models, prefabs, textures and the like are quite hidden away, and it
could be nice to make them more prominent with HL2 arriving soon.

I was looking through the tutorials section, and it struck me that quite a few of the old HL1 tutorials may still be valid for HL2 once it comes out. Is it worth classifying some of them under both categories? I suppose someone could look through and test them to see if they are still valid, and then add them to both categories. Might well save people a lot of effort in rewriting them.
Optionally, changes in the updates which are unique to HL2 can be marked separately within the tutorial itself.

None of them are perfectly valid (bar the "general" sound making etc. tutorials, which I will make viewable for all games soon).
I will also consider some kind of "user-voted" award system, which runs every now and then...

I just had a thought, when searching the editing forums think about adding a "Show Answered Threads Only" option. It would just show threads that have been answered or closed, locked, whatever with the topic keyword.
I suppose you could toss that with my enitre other post about the editing board a couple weeks back.

Most of the tips will work for HL2 though won't they? Maybe someone could try them out and put them up if they work.

Just for fun (you can flame me all you want if you dont like it) how about a timer until HL2 is released. Set to UK's time of coarse. No one else has done it yet.

I know that Lep has just gotten the whole review system set up, so I'm going to make a big issue out of this -- but, er, it appears that the "pros and cons" of my Zero review have been switched with the gameplay and design. O_o
Also, when I went to edit it, everything was blank -- if I press the submit button, will that "Clear" my review? :O

If you submit something, and IT is not considered good enough to be classed as a review, then IT may not be accepted. And if IT is not considered to be a review, what then, is IT? I can't tell you, because I'm making this up as I go along, but whatever IT is, IT is your IT.
Now the typo is gone.

Question/Suggestion:
With the user review system in place, is a PM generated to inform the maps author of a new review, as with the comment portion?
IE, i rate reno, he gets a message stating i did so, if i reviewed him, would a similar message be generated?
if not, can we please have it so?

I like Orph's ideas, and I've got another thing too:
A lot of people are making map profiles for unfinished stuff, but when
the map's finished, it does not re-show up on the main page under "new
maps". Maybe you could make it so that when a map's finished, it gets
shown in the list again. Would bring a bit more attention to finished
businness

look at this thread, 834 replies, prolly some HQ ideas are buried within its depths too..
is there a way to set this topic up so suggestions are distinctive, and once the idea has been implemented it is also apparent by some identifier?
i doubt its possible, but i thought it worth asking..

You could use the editing boards-system ... Green frame = accepted/fixed, Red frame = not accepted.

Not really, seems like an awful lot of hassle to edit the
options/abilities of what is actually just another thread on the board.
Leprous reads all from "new posts since your last visit" and usually
implements/responds to all the suggestions anyway. Just seems like a
dreadful waste of time for something that can be done with the human
brain

I'm not responding to the idea, more to the notion of turning this thread into extra coding, Orph
The point was that this is just a normal thread and there's not much
point coding a function just for suggestions/suggestions answered

i knew what you meant, tis why i hesitate suggestions that i know in advance will cause an increase of workload..
i am code stupid, but i know its work to do..
anywho's, suggestions don't get ignored, but sometimes they are not successfully implemented either, case in point.. the error with rating tutorials, it was addressed, but failed to achieve its goal, at least for me and reno.. i never accused lep of failing to listen, i just hate bothering him repeatedly, i would like a way to know at a glance that he did address the idea.. without the need to post another time..

I could just edit people's posts with a little "implemented" tag... but I can't be bothered, I do work on pretty much everything you throw at me (though some might take longer than others to fix)

In campaignjunkie's profile it says he has written two tutorials, but
if you click that link so as to view his tutorials, only one is
displayed (how to cel-shade brushes).

Ooh I know why this is happening, it's because he has a tutorial for a section that only exists for HL, but if you have your default game set to HL2 it won't "load" that section. I'll fiddle with some code and fix it.
