Fraggard, let me know what post in particular you're trying to edit, and what version of Mozilla you're using. They all seem to work fine with v1.0 for me.

How strange, I just managed to edit it. When you say "blank", is it an empty white or black box? Can you please check the page source for me and let me know if there's a textarea in there called "editbox" and it has content?
Me: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0

No textarea called editbox... I did find this, though.
<textarea name="message" rows=15 cols=75></textarea>
Anyway, it must be a problem on my side since you can manage it with the same browser!

No, if you can't see editbox that's what's going wrong, I'll have a look. Care to do me one more favour, and search for "browser:" in the page source again, and tell me what it says? Also it the blank screen white or black?
BTW the "message" textarea is meant to be empty, it's filled with the contents of the iframe when you click submit.

It detects "forums/browsers/none.js" So it's basically not detecting it? I think the file should be moz.js or ie.js.
The edit field is black.

I'd like for the "Watch List" of maps to be on the main index page too,
instead of just the control panel page. It's such a handy feature, it
just needs to be more accessable!

this is just my personal taste speaking.
in the reply window, we currently have "E-Mail me when someone replies" i would rather receive a PM notice, as i check my email only once per day.. and i DO want notification, so a PM would be quicker response time wise.
thanx

When posting, and quoting, it has to be said, the whole way quotes are handled is just terrible. The number of messed-up quotes you see in the forums... I'd much rather have simple quote tags than the current interface.

what about being able to sort the map list?
it already has several columns and if you could click an icon at the top that sorted the list of maps by that column that would be terrific.
itll make things easier when those list really start to fill up

It does work $loth, do a forced refresh (try F5 or SHift+F5 in your browser).

I think the reviews listing is a bit confusing. Where is says "by ..."
it reads to me like it means to author of the review, but instead it is
the level's designer. Not sure how it could best be laid out to be
clearer, but its something worth considering changes to.

With all these recent thread resurrections going on, I was thinking it might be nice to have a feature that would automatically lock threads that hadn't had a reply within a certain time period. Say, two months or something? You could use a different icon and designate them as "archived" or something. I guess you'd have to exempt unsolved editing problems from the system though.

In editing discription of the CS map I can't choose type of it (cs_, de_, as_, ka, ... I've seen that some other map's haven't got choosen type. Is that able to fix? Maybe the reason fo this bug is that I have Windows 98 with Windows Exporer (exploder:) ) 5.0.

Naaah predator, countersstrike is one standard game - the type of map
is distinguised just by the de_ or cs_ at the start I think - we don't
have an option to select the gamemode. Just give it the right name

I reckon it might be nice to be able to watch mappers, rather than
maps. Whenever their profile changes, including any changes to any
maps, then the watchers will recieve notification on their watch list.
It would also be nice to recieve a PM or something when a tutorial you wrote gets
a comment, as currently I have to go through them all every now and
then to check if there have been any comments or questions.

Hehe, nothing like that mate  Its just nice to be able to keep an eye
on updates that particular mappers have made rather than having to add
all their maps to a watch list, which is just a bit unwieldy. As for
the tutorials thing, I just like making sure there aren't questions in
there left unanswered for too long, so I run through them once a week
or so. Its not a big deal, but it would be nice to have a PM system
that saves me the bother

I have something of a radical proposition to make. We have something of a tradition between the Snarkpit regulars of reviewing and critiquing each other's unfinished maps so that the final product can be better; however, newer members (and, occasionally, regulars) will simply give us screenshots and a download link.
While I'm not saying that the latter approach is somehow petty or against the spirit of the Maps forum, those are two very different usages of the Maps forum.
I propose that we create an additional forum, one for getting involved in the process of the maps that get posted and leave the Maps forum for simple showcasing. I don't think this is too radical an idea, and would lessen our image here at the Snarkpit of being hostile to newcomers (as maps simply being showcased would require none of our famous criticism).
(Sorry if this post hasn't made any sense. I'm very hungry and very tired. I think I got the point across, though.)

Fixed CS:Source gameplay modes, and made it PM you when people comment on a tutorial (with an option to not recieve these PMs, if you edit said tut).
Cassius, it's a good idea, but given that a lot of people here don't seem to be able to figure out the current "confusing" boards I suspect it will be horribly mis-used? I was thinking about a private board, completely invisible to uninvited people, to avoid n00bism and where such things could be discussed.
Though along with Reno's idea they are certainly steps in a more mature map-making-website direction, things I'll certainly consider for the next version of SnarkPit

I don't think it would be elitism. Like I say, casual users who come just to solve a particular editing problem or give us a download for their map would have no need for an extensive critiquing process, and I believe the board is going to have to adapt to that new dynamic. Most people coming by aren't going to be interested in sticking around for three or four years and getting every inch of their map scrutinized; the map forum, as I say, has two very different usages, and we should change based on that.
To be quite honest, the "Snarkpit Community" consists of about twenty or thirty people (at a very generous estimate) who check the site and make posts daily; it has been that way since I joined. We've always found it difficult to accept new people, as we expect quite a bit from someone for them to be part of that core community: we expect involvement, humility, honesty, etc., from people, and I think that scares a lot of people away.
It seems to me that an invite-only forum, if it were to appear right now, would solve a lot of things. Read the DM_Motel thread; it's a (painfully) clear example of how people just coming to show off their map and get passing comments about it get a rude awakening when faced with our standards. Not to say that anyone that posted in the thread was in the wrong - we have a perfect right to have high standards; that's the value of our community. It just shows that there is quite a rift between regulars and newcomers that scares a lot of newcomers away.

i have a request.. i would like to have the option of increasing my available PM totals.. i was gone for 5 days, and lost many important ones i wanted to keep, because they scrolled down to the bottom and were deleted..
its partly my own fault, because i failed to remove the nonessential ones before i left. but 50 is a rather small number for ahem someone of my caliber.. not to boast, but sometimes i get a fair few PM's and quite honestly.. i do not delete them all because some contain information i wish to retain semi-permanently.
would it be to much trouble, to set it so we can chose our own level of PM retention?

The gallery needs cleaned again, we have a few pictures that are not pictures of ourselves.
its been so long since i uploaded one of myself that i cannot really recall if it clearly states that only true images of ourselves are suited for the gallery.
perhaps, if it doesn't, it should.
basically, no one must upload a picture, but those who do, need to refrain from uploading bull crap.

Most forums I've been to have e-mail notification for private messages. I think that could be handy, but I almost would say take that a step further and allow an option for editing forum questions to send e-mails to the user when a new suggestion (not general comment, though) is posted.
This would be especially helpful for the Radiant forum, where responses are sometimes delayed by days, and as a reminder to help pull people back who might have given up otherwise.
shrug If it's not too much trouble.

We could have a section in the maps for the all time top 10 maps which have been submitted on the snarkpit. They could be based on average rating, times downloaded etc.
P.S. This is a serious suggestion.

If you click on the 'can't see the box below' link, the smileys will
show. Any text you had entered will vanish though, so be careful. I
think it's better having them hidden, it helps prevent their abuse.

I don't know that's a good idea that add new forum rooms: "Uncomlited maps (when someone don't have ideas how to good compite the map)" and "Plans and ideas or visions of good maps (here somebody may add plans in graphic file or scripts of maps)". I've spotted this categories of forum in polish mappers web (www.hl.mapping.pl). Unfortunetly on this forums nobody have been. Maybe something like this idea of new categories of forum could be much popular on "snarkpit.com".

I don't really think there is much need for such additional forums to
be honest, as their purposes are already covered by the existing ones.
Putting up pictures of great ideas for levels could be done in the
General Banter forum and isn't done often enough to deserve its own
forum, while uncomplete maps are exactly what the mapping forum is
there for.

How is it supposed to look lep? This is what I'm getting, but I don't have a clue how RSS works.
Edit: Oops, I was under the impression that forefox had rss built-in.
Maybe I was thinking of an extension or maybe that's horses**t.
