The text color isn't quite working...and where have the smileys gone off to? This text is RED. Nope...

Firefox - Just edited a post, tried to add a smiley using the JS clicky thingy and it erased all text in the box, replaced by the : bbcode :.
I just clicked back and did it manually, but it could be a potential annoyance.

omegaslayer, add a "http://" at the start of your URL and it will work.

Lep, how about a couple of arrows to move up/down a profile when viewing someones profile?
Just an idea, might encourage people to read more profiles or rate more people. Not entirely sure how you'd do the increments (alphabetised/by ID) though (ie which method)

omegaslayer, like a lot of other people you seem to have failed to understand the meaning of "please enter a fully qualified URL"- it means start it with http:// (this is because people with pits might only want to write pits/leperous, for example).
Gwil-m0ng, learn to edit posts  And what do you mean by 'arrows' to move up and down, you can do that with your keyboard already?

The new next, previous and random buttons on the profiles are a good
idea, but can you exclude profiles with no content from the "random"
link? I just clicked the link several times to try it out and got
several profiles in a row with no content (no description, maps, or
posted news). Just an idea...

GBall, something tell me that is intentional, perhaps to stop what you were trying?
Loco, I agree entirely. Its a cool feature for those bored, lazy days
(you can just browse for ages, commenting on maps) but its furstrating
when you get a huge set of empty ones coming up in a row.
I'm not sure about the newish system that disables a map's comments
section when there is a forum thread. With ancient thread revival being
the son of the devil, I can see some people getting pissed off with old
map threads popping up just because somebody wanted to say "Nice map,
good job!". I can also see the benefit of it, as previously it was hard
to keep track of comments with them possibly appearing in two places.
Perhaps (if it isn't already), comments could be "unlocked" after a
certain period of inactivity in the thread, or at the map author's
discretion (eg. a toggle between thread only / comments only option).

I have been giving this some serious thought. I think if people knew how to post thumbs to their screens it might encourage them to post optimized screens more often.
say for instance: member so-and-so posted an 800x600 80k image but truly thought it did a dis-service to his map, he could link it to a massive 160k version via the thumb command code.
would it be possible to prominently display the code, and its implementation in such a way as to encourage its use?

Er, more of a question really, but is there FTP access to the pits? I've got a whole folder full of small files that I'd like to upload but I'm far too lazy to upload each file singularly.

Reno, you can comment on maps again when it is released!
I agree about the thumbnail code, I've got about 3 already and should sort them out :/
And no, there's no pit FTP access. I don't yet know how to arrange for something like this, though people have raised similar issues in the past...

In the maps section, you currently have the sort by:Name, downloads, date, size, ratings and viewed.
can you add "complete" or some other designation that will separate beta's from completed works?

As well as weekly HL2DM map round up could there be a CSS one in there aswell? There seem to be quite a lot of CSS maps.

Okies, It said best HL2DM maps so I thought that it's only HL2DM maps up there.
Here's a quick list of the best of the week's HL2DM map releases here on the SnarkPit

Call me slow but i just noticed that all the admin/mods are Europeans. not that thats a bad thing but you really need to find someone you trust here in the states, or at the very least outside your mindset.
For instance, no one i know of in the states would have locked a thread over a "your momma" joke. course we all used to play that one as children. i am unsure how its done over there though :/
anywho's, find someone/s you trust whom doesn't think as you do to cover the yin/yang of snarkpit thinking.
I'd be willing to put it to a voting. Yak,KFS,Gorby or even Crono.. it might make him less.... cronoish.
/2 cents

You know what, I don't give a toss. The case was closed and there wasn't really much point in leaving the topic open so you could go on making weak jokes about latex.

SnarkPit was down again for me today. Was it some problem with Oktagone? Or was it just a routine site maintainence? Could it be just me?

Sorry about the file uploads not working, it's a server/PHP module doowhalley missing that means thumbnails can't be generated.

I believe Lep said that the web site is now hosted on a different computer. Well, I can definitely feel the difference. Everything loads a lot slower, and sometimes the website even becomes unresponsive.
Is this going to be a permanent issue?

I think if someone feels up to it, a real time chat thing would be kinda cool. Otherwise you need to wait to see a response. Just a thought...

Not a complaint or bug or anything:
The first time I tried out the "random profile" button, the random profile that came up was for the user 'Random'. Just a strange coincidence.

When posting news on the site and associating it with a map, it would
be nice if the drop down list of maps was sorted by game. I have 2 maps
called "echo", and as they aren't differentiated from one another I
wouldn't know which to post news about.

For some reason my replies to the "useful free apps" thread aren't
working - I fill in the box, hit submit, and it reloads the page
without having added my post  I'm using Firefox.

I'm using Opera and having a similar problem. I made a post but wanted to edit it, so I went to edit and anything I typed wouldn't appear in my message after I edited.

I have the same problem with that particular thread. Everything else seems to be working fine. I thought the problem is just with my computer at work, but apparently it's a Pit-wide problem.
I was so frustrated with posting it that after three failed attempts, I gave up posting.
P.S. By the way, I am using IE 5.5 at work (I can't convince the IT people to upgrade this ancient browser).

The problem happened again with another thread. And now when I
hit "back" on the browser, even the topic and description
disappeared. Something is wrong with the server, I just know it.
