Yes! So many people seem to lambast Neeson for his role in Star Wars - Episode 1, but he is one of my favourite actors. I'm also a mild fan of Dennis Quaid which causes me to be lampooned by my peers also.

i have yet to see a Dennis Quaid movie that was not top grade. in fact, if you check back a few dozen pages, you'll note that i watched both "frequency" and "the rookie"
i suppose i was won over with "Enemy Mine"..

Just got done watching Eye of God (1997, Nick Stahl)and Taxi (2004, Jimmy Fallon). Eye of God was a great movie. Doesn't seem like a whole lot of people know about it. Taxi was decent despite my low expectations. Decent humour and surprisingly decent car stunts. I would rate Eye of God 8/10 and Taxi 6/10. Ciao

Watched Sopranos series 1 recently. Absolutely loved it, so much so that I bought series 2, 3 and 4. Just finished series 2 (which is also fantastic), about to start on 3.

I'm not really interested in watching American TV series' actually on TV tbh, since they tend to have so many episodes and it's too easy to miss out on one episode, scuppering the series for yourself. I still haven't seen any of the 24 series' though I know I'd probably enjoy it - the idea of having to catch an episode a week for half a year...

Also watched Saw on DVD yesterday. Very gruesome, much more so than Seven.

Get yourself onto play.com and pick up a series for only ?17.99 keved;
they are really great and if you're anything like the people in my flat
you'll get stuck into it and finish it in a week or so (4 episodes a
night was our daily dosage for series three :smile: ). Probably best to start
with series 1 if you do plan on getting them, as the later series' do
contain spoilers on what happened earlier.

Yet he's actually a good actor (seriously). I think Batman and Robin was unfair to the cast. It was just so crappily made ... why is Mr. Freeze's suit powered by diamonds?

The thing I don't get is that normally, Val Kilmer just oozes cool, and you'd think playing Batman would be a perfect opportunity ... but no. Damn Joel Schumacher

watched "Men of Honor" again.. great flick.

Constantine is...decent. Visually it's spot on, and Reeves does a
better job than I expected (even if it's still a bit sub-par). Still,
he was at least likeable, and making such a cynical bastard likeable
isn't always easy. A bit long though, and the tiny romance sub-plot was
laughably half-arsed. I was glad that they didn't have the obligatory
"make-out at the end of the movie" scene.

Was I the only one that laughed at "I need a mirror! At least...3 feet
high!" It was just such a bizaare and random thing to say IMO. :smile:
Obviously, if you knew why he needed one by reading the comics or
something, you probably wouldn't think the same way.

Recommended if you need to kill two hours, at the very least.

re-watched "An Officer and a Gentleman" .. been ages but still top shelf viewing..

I have no intention of ever watching that movie, but as a Kids in the Hall fan I have to ask about Mark McKinney's role in the movie. Does he earn his paycheck? Funny character or one of the boring foils to the "zany" antics of the Spice Girls?

Just saw Run Lola Run. Pretty good. Very unusual style.

Sorry Orph...but I found Taxi to be really poor. Full of every cliche in the book and I don't think I laughed once. Well, maybe one or two nose laughs but nothing to write home about.

I've been watching my Red Dwarf series 6 DVD over the last few nights, and its still as funny as ever. Also got the Little Britain charity DVD and Robbie Williams makes a suprisingly good 'lady'.... :wink:

that movie was clear full of my kind of humor. i also watched Sean of the dead. it sucked. it had even more of those clich?'s you mentioned. in fact, it was made up of nothing but. and look how well that movie was received around here.. so, go figure. shrugs

well i no longer need to taboo movies from the net, i can taboo originals. and i refused to waste a DVD+R on it.. wasting a rental fee was waste enough :/

You could just use -R, they're cheaper and more devices support them.

around here -R and +R are the same price, but what exactly is the distinctions between "minus" and "plus"

Not much. The information is stored differently. I don't know what the differences are. However, I do know most devices suppprt -R and not +R because of this information storage difference. Try looking around for some information.

-R is way cheaper here. However, I just got a 50 pack of DVD-R for $12.50 ... and then to my surprise they gave me a form for a $10 mail in rebate! $2.50 isn't too bad :smile:

Taking that most -R 50 packs are like $30 and +R is around $50 or so.

In film studies were gonna be watching the wicker man so will tell you
what I think of that in a couple of weeks. ATM we've just finished
watching brief encounter and now we are watching a movie called
beautiful thing. It's a british movie about 2 boy's who fall in love
with each other, it's OK tbh as it's not all that dingy that you might
think it is.

Watched Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow the other day, and it was
pretty crap. I liked a lot of it visually, and I dig the setting (so
"Crimson Skies" esque), but the plot was so winding and "what the
f**k?!" that you couldn't help but laugh at how unlikely it all was.
Not that it was going for realism of course.

$loth, your Media Studies course sounds a lot more fun than when I did it. We didn't watch a single film in two years!

Anyway, I watched 'The Village' last night and thought the 'twist' actually spoilt the film. I felt cheated by it. At one point, it was almost redeemed by making you think the twist was an elaboration of the truth, but no! Flippin 'eck, it's not easy trying to explain this without spoiling the film! I know exactly what you mean. It's a film that hinges entirely on it's
"surprise twist" just one big slap in the face really. Those who
plan to see it: you probably already thought of the twist and discarded
it as being "rubbish" or "too easy". And if I've just potentially
ruined the movie for
you, then good, I've saved you the trouble of seeing it. Because the
only reason I watched it to the end was in case another similar twist
showed up (I'm sure those who've seen it could wager a guess as to what
that twist is). It was a genuinely interesting
premise as well; Shyamalan just had to ruin the whole bloody thing by
not being an imaginative writer.

Actually, this is in film, although I do media aswell. We haven't
watched that many films, only bowling for columbine so far. But we do
watch a lot of episodes of sitcoms atm and do some presentations on
scenes from films. Oh also we've just finished making our thriller
movie intros :wink:

I'm amused you have a course that involves watching sitcoms. What kind of shows are you viewing in that? Hopefully not "According to Jim" or "Yes, Dear."

In media the topic we are doing atm is gender representation and
sitcoms. We've only been doing british sitcoms atm like butterflies,
royale family, spaced (i think it's called that, with the guy from
shaun of the dead) and the office (don't know why people think this is
funny, it sucks.)

Obviously never worked in an Office then...

They must be so bored to find that stuff amusing.

I liked Anchorman. Will Ferrel just totally kicks ass.

My mom rented the China Syndrome, it's really old and about dams breaking down or something like that. It was good though.

Just rented "Ladder 49"

been waiting for this release for months. /me hopes its as good as the previews.

not better or worse than the original, but being a fan of both Mr. Stewart and Mr. Quaid.. I don't think i could chose. :/

Watched Alone In The Dark out of curiosity...bleh. Worse than RE.

Alone in the Dark does look pretty awful, but at least it seems like a
step up from the guy's last game based move "House of the Dead" (which
from the trailer, had NOTHING to do with any of the games!). Oh and
don't worry Orph, I'm not a Chuck "The f**k" Norris fan, just checking
you didn't rank too highly :biggrin:

Oh God, The Crappicles of Riddick. The game is cool though.

Oh man, I wanted to see Alone in the Dark so bad. Just because it looked so terrible. And it had one of the best psuedo-elit-b-list-actors: Stephen Dworf.
