I watched the eye a couple of days ago, although it doesn't look too scary it's well done. I say 6.5/10.

I'm currently half way through The last house on the left, all I have to say is that so far it is pretty sick.
The ending isn't great, but isn't bad either.

Watched Collateral the other night, and really enjoyed it. I wouldn't
say its quite on par with Heat (Michael Mann's other very well known
film) but its still a cool film regardless. Really nice looking film, I
loved some of the shots they had in it, great angles.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas had so much potential. They were basing it off one of the funniest books I have ever read, from which all parts of the story, narration, and dialogue (as far as I can tell) were quoted. The sets, for the most part, were dead-on. Johnny Depp looked exactly like how I had imagined Raoul Duke. And in the end it sucked. At least the book is still good.

Shaun of the Dead was freaking awesome, but my judgement is somewhat
biased due to my love of Spaced, which was written by the same people
and included most of the cast. Oh, and Black Books is another great British comedy series akin with Spaced.

Another great one is Undead, its a fairly recent Australian made zombie
movie, and one of the best ones I've seen. Here's a link to a detailed
review.

http://www.movie-gazette.com/cinereviews/1096

Some other great comedies I've seen recently are Clay Pigeons and Buying the Cow.

I know what you mean, I can't get s**t here in Australia. I have to
wait for ages before the Spaced seasons on dvd are available in my
zone, lest for some reason I can't run the UK ones on my modified dvd
player and I waste a load of money.

Whaddya mean by "proper" DVD? There's a DVD, anyway, so that's good enough for me.

And I watched Johnny English, fairly enjoyable since Mr. Bean played the idiot once again, had some great scenes too when he parachutes onto the wrong building, I laughed my proverbial ass off.

For Elektra think Alias but her using ninja weapons, in a ninja style
outfit, fighting ninja like bad guys. I'm sorry but Jennifer Garner has
absolutely no credibility as an action character. The few times I
watched Alias I cringed everytime she did a dive with guns blazing, as
it looked like the recoil alone would snap those toothpick arms of
hers. Her wrists are so weak she wouldn't be able to hit anything when
firing, as she even has trouble holding a pistol steady.

And damn, the bitch ain't that good looking.

I just viewed "Closer" this afternoon. It's a relatively small film by Mike Nichols with Jude Law and Julia Roberts.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0376541/

Nichols paints a pretty grim world where love is a game of deception
and manipulation, and sex is wielded by the players as a weapon.
It's no less merciless than a deathmatch arena, where the only
redemption can be found in loneliness and isolation.

The title represents a playful twist to the story. Even
though the main characters are physically intimate, they are impossibly
distant emotionally. Set in central London, the backdrop is
emphasized by a depressing
grayish sky. Harsh lighting and cold warehouse-style sets
reinforce the emotional desolation of the characters.

And fitting to the theme of treachery, the most seemingly vulnerable
character turned out to be the deceiver, and the one you trust the most
betrays you. At the end, no one is left unscathed and everyone is
emotionally bereft.

I don't need to reiterate that the film is aimed towards a mature
audience. Anyone who is into glitters and pyrotechnics will
probably drift into a coma before the movie ends.
So...are you in a coma yet?

I went to go see that movie when I was already kind of down- it almost made me lose my faith in humanity. I thought it was a good movie, in terms of scope and the situations that it was portraying, however. Very well filmed IMO.

Something's wrong with me, or maybe something's wrong with everyone else. I like just about every movie i see. I look past even the most REPREHENSIBLE acting and get so immersed in the worst storylines that I really don't notice how bad they are, I just enjoy seeing the little people walk around on the screen. I have rarely if EVER started a movie and not finished it. Maybe about 5 or 6 times in my whole life, maybe less. I have stayed up til 4:00AM for some movies you wouldn't piss on if they were on fire. Mainly this is because I like SCIFI movies, and most of them are not the greatest caliber of film. You will rearely if ever see me bash a movie. If you do you KNOW it's bad.

Sorry, bad acting, shot set up, cinematography, producing, etc, Just make my skin boil. Production Value probably runs higher then anything else though, I'll give the same amount of effort that the film makers gave to the movie. Things like Catwoman just rub me the wrong way because they take a already well developed character and rape their story AND character development in the ass. But, seriously, there are movies that are painful to sit through. The Lost World is one of them shudder.

You see, I didn't mind the lost world because I like Jeff Goldblum, and Dinosaurs. So I didn't mind the stupidity in the storyline. Some movies are so STUPID that i LOVE them. Like anything from Mystery Science Theatre 3000. Even without the commentary, i would love them because They are so ridiculous. I guess I almost always find something to like in a movie, whether it's a certain actor/actress, or some other obscure tie to the movie. I am less forgiving with games. Like some of those MOHAA expansion packs.

i lost faith in most of the members here, when they claimed Ben Stiller could act.

if nothing else is true, we all must accept that our opinions of movies are never going to mesh well. basically because none of us seems consistent in our likes or dislikes.

catwoman, was it great? nope. but it was far from s**t as well. it was on par with at least 90% of all the other movies that attempted to capture a comic book persona.

damned few movies do this well, so all you can really do is rate each of them against the other attempts to do it. apparently making movies based on comics is not easy, as most flop.
besides Duncan, most if not all the movies i post, someone has a complaint about my preference

What ... the ... f**k. :wtf:

Have you been living in a ditch? Or did you just NEVER pick up any comic that any of the movies were based on?

I'm sorry, no. You're flat out wrong here. There is such thing as going out of the way to make something s**tty. It would be fairly simple and easy to have constructed an awesome plot for a Catwoman film. EASY. There's so much material to borrow from. I can pretty much guarantee that that trash was made because some prick said, "Hey, let's rape this character's story line".

I don't even want to hear "we have different tastes" from you. It doesn't make sense that you'd push aside something that was made with, practically, blood and sweat for something that was made for the sole purpose of getting horny guys in a theater seat.

Watched 'Walking Tall' last night. Entertaining, though the best bit was Johnny Knoxville's laugh  I'd be interested to see how much remains from the original version and its sequels.

My sister rented 'The Bourne Supremacy' so i'll be watching that tonight - though I was a little unsure as to whether I liked the 'Bourne Identity'. We'll have to see if the sequel is more accessible plot-wise as I didn't have a sodding clue what went off before! One minute he's floating in the ocean, and next thing you know he's visited half the planet...oh, and kicked a few peoples faces in

crono... be quiet a second. apparently text failed me again. i was not comparing hero to catwoman. i was comparing catwoman to all the other comic book movies/films/TV shows.

i have seen nearly all of them ever made, and damned few compare to the books. you can argue till you are blue i don't care, but comic books rarely translate to the big screen, and do it well.

if you like, we can make a list of successful ones, cause it will defiantly be a short one.

cash, what i mean is, take me for instance, my likes do not follow a path, they are all over the charts. same with crono and adam and reno. we all like movies that seem to not have anything in common with each other. if i were to post "field of dreams" i could guess that only i would like it, but i could not guess for certain who would dislike it. make sense now?

crono again. hero sucked owl s**t.. end of story.

Hero and the like are different from the big-guns-and-shooting nonsense that you usually get, so it's not surprising that some people don't like it, fair enough.

But please, there's a difference between spotting whether a film is good or not, and whether you liked it- I know classical music is good music, but I still hate it; I know that BASEketball is a terrible film but I watched it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Though I haven't seen Catwoman, I still think you are insane if you're saying it's a better film than Hero- fine, you didn't like it, but it's still better in every way possible except for the particular bits which pull your chain

I thought it was OK - but seriously lacking in a plot. It just felt like one action sequence after another, much like Resident Evil 2 did...but then I guess that's what you get when you base a film on a computer game.

Best bit of AVP was Lance Henrikssen - he always shines, no matter how crappy the role.

AVP was rubbish in my eyes. My expectations were low enough as it is
(anything with Paul Anderson at the helm is destined to be rubbish),
but it STILL couldn't reach them. No sense of pace or atmosphere,
ridiculous
script and acting, and a "matrix shot" of a facehugger jumping out of
an egg. It sucked donkey balls. The only plus side was that the special
effects were impressive, but they don't make a crap movie good.

Just watched The Shining, the
sound is great and really makes an atmosphere and creates great
tension, although there wasn't that many killings it's still a good
movie.

Orph, did you even read what I said?

I didn't assume you compared those movies together. So maybe "text failed me again" or you just didn't read all of what I said, like usual.

Doc, AvP was exactly what it should have been ... Aliens fighting Predators. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm just wondering what's cut out, since there was an original cut (severely longer) that was cut to make it PG-13. Supposedly there's an entire subplot gone (one of which explains the damn gestation period). I can understand why people don't like Paul W Anderson movies, he isn't anything great, but he just has a knack for making fun stuff to watch. Although, I think it's not warranted to compare Hero to Resident Evil Apocalypse :\

By the way, not on this subject or directed at anyone, Lep is absolutely correct. Your personal opinion of something does not determine whether it is good or not. I can name many movies that are "good", but I hate. Would I suggest them? No, because I hate them, but I wouldn't say, "They suck" or something as such.

I find that the humour aspect of Stephen King adaptations is usually what stops them short of being really good. I didn't watch Kingdom Hospital past the second episode due to this - which was a shame as the trailers etc. for it sold the show well.
