"ln" is common notation for the natural logarithm (log to the base e (≈ 2.7)). Still lost? Logarithms are the "opposite" of exponentials: so if 3² = 9, then log 9 (to base 3) = 2. Look at your scientific calculator... :razz:

In my area you learn Logs in either algerbra 2 or a pre-calculus course.
They are easy for those who haven't done them, they look hard in the beggining, but are pretty simple.

I learned logs somewhere around algebra 2, I think.

Damn things just HAD to be the most effecient type of algorithm, didn't they?! grumbles

I'll take my O(2n) algorithm anyday

In New York we got math b. . . which is like an advanced geometry kinda
thing. This is the course you would learn logarithms and those things
in. I'm done with logs, as well as the first year of math b (it's a 1
1/2 year course) and they were really easy once you got into it. But I
like math anyway. In September I'm supposed to finish math b then take
pre-calc and then calc. All in my sophmore year at high school. :biggrin:
