There are 3 kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and HL2 release dates.

No the videos released at E3 and code stolen is actually from around 2001... the game is pretty much complete but mapping takes a long time to do and make it look good...

We don't get it until February 27th here in the UK as publishing companies tend to release simultaneously in Europe (which means translating for all the other countries  ). Kinda annoying really...
Oh, and UT2004 is also out in February - i'd better start saving my pennies now I think

Deus Ex 1 came out a few years ago, Deux Ex 2 (invisible war) came out a few weeks ago, and it sucks. It was made for the console not the PC. The story is FUBAR'ed, the maps fair, and the gameplay very short. My friend finished it in 3 days.

Yes, it was a good trailer, although there are still some laughable bits to the game - for example, the powder puff muzzleflashes
Development companies are in no way required to spend time and effort creating a site for their games - really, there's enough fan sites out there anyway to more than cover what info is out there. To do a site like that, you either waste someone's time who could be working productively on the game, or have to toss money off to someone as a dedicated person to make it.
Valve has also released super hi-res versions of much of the E3 demo videos (and did so just as recently as this Doom3 trailer did), which provide far more content at greater resolution and detail than the Doom3 trailer as well as long periods of nothing but gameplay footage. Where's the extended Doom3 gameplay sequences? We've seen nothing of how that game will play other than shoot the scary plastic looking things  hehe.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still looking forward to Doom3, but there's not enough here to fault one game/company or the other for doing anything wrong. Both are missing scheduled release dates, both have fairly limited content available, both have been leaked in early alpha stages... To fault one for any one or all of these is to fault both of them.

Bahumbug! I never got into UT2k3...And I dont suspect UT2k4 to be much different [besides a few new cars, game modes, models, and maps]..Although I loved UT.
UT2k3 just felt too waterd down with "eye candy" rather than other things, and it felt generic and tended to bore me quite easily.
As for Halo [xbox version], I am still playing it a year later, its got the same re:playablity as Half-Life. Learning new tricks, glitches and such always kills time  . As for Halo PC, sure its got some cool new weapons [Flame thrower, and covenent rocket launcher], but gearbox really f**ked it up if it even laggs on high-end machines.
With Halo 2's graphics, and xbox live support, I believe it will be around for quite a while  .

Will we actually be able to use that vehicle? In UT2003 there was this level with a tank thing in it but you couldn't use it!

UT2k4 has tons of vehicles, turrets, etc., there's even a space station map with fighters attacking a space station that has guns the defending team can use.
I never played 1player Halo on Xbox. The multiplayer vehicle maps were fun for a while, but there were only a few of them. And vehicles aside, Halo multiplayer was crap I thought. The guns, maps, etc. were very poorly done. Some maps made my brain hurt, their layout was so bad.

I like the majority of the Halo maps. You have to understand that they all serve multiple gametypes (not just CTF - Oddball, King of the Hill, Rally, Slayer), and each one plays reasonably good if not great.
And the gun balance is my favorite part of Halo. Although not as complex as UT (it's a console game, it can't afford to have much complexity anyway) it still has a good amount of depth. Practically every gun is useful, although the pistol is by far the best. But even then, you can still take anyone out with any weapon if you know what you're doing.

CJ has good points, and Halo MP on the xbox really is good. People get pissed off at me for sniping loads though...ah blood gulch  I've not played it on the PC and don't think I would - Halo is a console game in my eyes, and shouldn't be judged alongside PC FPS's alone.

They're making UT2004? Dear God. The only FPS I've played recently that was worse than UT2003 was Unreal Championship on the Xbox...
I would rank Halo up there with Goldeneye as the best console FPS ever made. The co-op mode and the ability to beat the s**t out of people with the butt of your rifle are sources of never-ending fun. The MP maps do suck ass though...we have killbox Hang 'em High, that pointless one that is one long corridor, the teleporter one (it is such a headache to play), the one with the two ships that's basically a 2fort sniper map...but, you can't go wrong with Blood Gulch.
And I agree, the pistol is easily the best gun. Headshots galore!
As for the PC version, let's just say there's a reason CS:CZ is no longer being developed by Gearbox.

Matt, excuse me for saying this...But your a damn idiot. You can use the vehicles on UT2k3, go up to that tank and hit "U".
I also agree with everyone else, Halo has good weapons, its perfectly balanced. They dont have super weapons..Although people may think that [Rocket Launcher.]

Hang 'Em High might be a hideous killbox with a mindless layout, but for some reason it's insanely fun. It's definitely my favorite level, although I'm a big fan of Rat Race, Blood Gulch, and Sidewinder too. Some of the levels are absolute s**t though (Chill Out or Boarding Action, anyone?)
Add me to the list of people anticipating UT2004.

Boarding Action is quite good on the Xbox version at any rate, if your a snipe whore like me that is  I guess its crappy if you like shotgun / machine gun action, but for the pistol and rifle its a laugh. I imagine it would suck on the PC, much too easy to snipe with mouse controls.

I just found the weapons in Halo extremely slow and boring. also, some of them like the rocket launcher take up half the !%#$ screen.
That teleporter map is horrendously bad. Think of it this way, if someone showed that map here, what would we say to them...?

I play more Timesplitters 2 than Halo, mostly because it's for Gamecube and it's much much faster paced. I'm a big fan of the "fast-person shooter" genre, like Quake and HLDM and UT.
Anything that plays slow enough to snipe in is borderline for me, that's why CS and Halo aren't really my cup o' tea.

To be honest, I've lost all interest in HL2...it looks neat, but unless it has an awesome MP, which is really the only thing I play FPS games for, most SP FPS tend to bore me, HL2 will probably slip by me.
UT2k4 has definitely got my attention, especially the Special Edition, with 23 complete VTM's from the 3DBuzz.com crew. 23 high quality, 4-8 hour video lessons on developing various aspects for the Unreal Engine. All the ones downloadable from masteringunreal.com are included, but that only makes up for about 1/4 at most of the total VTM's that come with UT2k4. And you know what's really cool, a game comes with all those lessons as well  .
Really didn't like Halo, holds even less interest for me. Ironically we saw some machinima done with the Halo engine when it was going to be on Mac, and the game looked a hell of a lot better than when it came out on X-Box and PC, boy did they manage to destroy it.
But to be honest, the only FPS that holds my interest right now is Enemy Territory, it has to hold me over until AUT2k3 comes out, and it's doing a damn good job of it.

I have played such games on crossfire, they don't come close to proper Q3 (especially using OSP).
