Lep - could you make it so that .swf files have the propper icon? I've uploaded it to my pit:

Its a bug with SP and Navigator Mozilla when adding a map to your
profile, it comes up with a text error message and it doesn't look as
tho' the maps been added to your profile but it has  took me a while to work that one out, i mentioned this a while back.
Any way to fix this ? looks kinda silly.

The message says - "Stupid admins should read the stupid messages posted by the stupid users" the post is about 6 pages back on 28 (default SP settings), it was easily missed among the off-topic crud, original quote -
Just been trying to add a few maps to my profile and it seems to be borked, with Mozilla anyway.

When you click Submit it comes up with an empty page except for a message - "You may only upload JPG images!". Tried just adding a .Zip but it came up with the same thing and then tried just .JPG screenys but no go. Also tried both Submit buttons.

Then i went back into control panel and noticed that it had added the map several times. Had to go back and delete them all, grrrr !
I just tried this again with Navigator and Firefox and both came up with the same message, Java is disabled and Jscript enabled in both browsers.

That happened to me with IE, but I deleted a bunch of the maps and I can edit them normally...so I don't know what's up.

you can set up your profile to display many different amounts of replies per page.. so if you have it set to 10, you might have 50 pages, but if you have it set to 20 you will have 25 pages, etc,etc..

These chapter thingies will be used in new topics in the map forums automatically from now on, just so you know  As for 'general' use, that's in the pipeline still.

Now here's an insignificant bug: The question mark icons in the editing forums don't have black transparencies, unlike all the snark icons. I just noticed also that the poll icons don't have the transparencies either... Lep, this site is falling apart!!

Why must I use the javascript quick reply only? When I had javascript
switched off, all the quick reply did was send me to a blank page with
"no java" written on it.

Lep, Maybe you should allow us to submit drum role

SKY MAPS!!

That would be neat... we could submit our (meaning you must have done some work to make the sky map\must be your skymap) and assemble a skymap section! Short of one? Just choose one!

TBH Ballblue, I don't think there is a sufficient amount of skymap
creators on the Pit (or who would be attracted to the pit by the idea)
to warrant implementing it.

Also, places like The Wadfather for instance already have hundreds of
skymaps up for download, and i'm willing to bet there's some links in
the Editing Help forum on one of the sticky topics..

As Gwil said, there's no point in trying to compete with a pretty established and useful site (even if it is the most horrifically horrific Javascript site I've ever seen in my life :o)

All other functions work fine in Firefox, just the move option  Clicking the button doesnt even seem to send the form data.

Was just thinking, on the front page with the new maps, maybe a lil icon to click on for pics? But that would create a prob, coz peeps who choose to host thier own, dont get thumbnails next to the pic to link to others[ if that made sense]. Maybe there could be an icon just for people who choose to upload there pics?

Oh, and also, with the spinky new thread-in-a-thread thing, would the user be allowed to 'lock' a topic, after say, they had finished a beta, and started a new 'semi thread' for the next. Just so that it will keep posts tidy.

The only complaint I have with the thread-in-a-thread is that we can't skip to the last page (if there is more than one page). Just a small complaint, but it is sort of inconvenient.

Are you proposing thumbnails for new maps, listed with them? If so,
it's a good idea and certainly nie eye candy - but I'm willing to bet
the idea has been around before and isn't really feasible due to
bandwidth constraints.

I'm almost certain that Lep doesn't want to stretch his wallet further, he is a poor ol' student after all

Is there some reason why the articles/interviews section is BLANK?
When this site came into its current version we use now,
Half-Life was already more than on the wane. It's just a matter of
there isn't the interest, activity or demand to be pouring our heart
and souls into creating articles.

Indeed, they are more a feature of the site that is effectively
sitting on the back burner until Half-Life 2 refreshes and revitalises
the community  I'm sure if you (or anyone else for that matter) has
good ideas for "articles" then take the time to write and share them
with us

A good idea perhaps would be a comedy look at mapping - e.g. 100 Signs
You Use Hammer Too Much, or perhaps even things along the lines of
DaveJ's famous 51 tips articles  Maybe this will get the creative
juice going in people!

Browser? Version of browser? Works fine for me in Firefox 0.9,
and that's usually the problem in most of these questions, heh
Regarding "chapters" questions - wait for Lep i'd say, it's still very
much a new system and will be developed and polished over time.. keep
the feedback coming!

I don't have any problems with bandwidth, but aesthetics... though I can see the point in having a screenshot icon, why not read about the map too first and not be lazy

The articles/interviews page is blank because I never got round to making it, forgot about that

And fraggard use a newer browser man  I'll add some of the old javascript code in, the current resizes don't take into account window sizes properly and it doesn't work terribly well...

Pffft, who is this Leperous guy who always steals my thunder anyway?

It would be nice to see articles though, perhaps general guides as
opposed to all out tutorials, comedy/nostalgia, mapping hints and
ideas, recommended reading... stuff like that I guess?

If people will write them, that is... just like me writing reviews eh, for this old old game.. :E

Gimme some maps to do and I will (anyone and everyone), im currently an
out of work job seeking fool so don't do much in the day! Until I get
replies back from the various posts I have applied for, that is - time
is short but available.

but it returns errors, so i'm afraid you'll have to wait for Leperous

fixed. Sorry!
