And wrenches.

i just saw malibu's most wanted on hbo the other night... i find racial
nonsense funny, which this movie is packed full of, so logically i
should have liked this movie, wrong.

my recommendation: don't watch it! i think the funniest part was near
the beginning when b-rad is talking to the black maid and says, "when
are they going to stop opressing our people?" that cracked me up. and
the snoop dogg rat, that was slightly funny only because snoop dogg is,
well, snoop dogg. the rest of the movie was mostly crap.

Watched blind flight today and also got to meet the director [teachers brother]. It was quite a good movie and I was a bit surprised, the camera work was good and the way it was filmed for what they had [there were two men as the main actors who basically were in a room for 4 and a half years] was excellent.

I just viewed "Closer" this afternoon. It's a relatively small film by Mike Nichols with Jude Law and Julia Roberts.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0376541/

Nichols paints a pretty grim world where love is a game of deception
and manipulation, and sex is wielded by the players as a weapon.
It's no less merciless than a deathmatch arena, where the only
redemption can be found in loneliness and isolation.

The title represents a playful twist to the story. Even
though the main characters are physically intimate, they are impossibly
distant emotionally. Set in central London, the backdrop is
emphasized by a depressing
grayish sky. Harsh lighting and cold warehouse-style sets
reinforce the emotional desolation of the characters.

And fitting to the theme of treachery, the most seemingly vulnerable
character turned out to be the deceiver, and the one you trust the most
betrays you. At the end, no one is left unscathed and everyone is
emotionally bereft.

I don't need to reiterate that the film is aimed towards a mature
audience. Anyone who is into glitters and pyrotechnics will
probably drift into a coma before the movie ends.

I kind of want to see this, the only thing stopping me is the horribly s**tty actor that is Clive Owen.

By the way, I watched the DareDevil Directors Cut today ...

F**KING AWESOME. I liked the theatrical cut, but Jesus, this version is really good, like actually GOOD. There are only two or three changes that were made that I didn't care for. I also love the entire added sub plot. Not to mention most of the new stuff (most of the movie) has A SCORE!! Not s**tty pop-rock like Nickle-lick-my-sack and Evers**t.
However, it is completly suplimental to the theatrical cut. If you didn't like the theatrical cut, there is a good chance you'll like this version. Most people I know who hated the movie like this cut, so, take that for what you may

I love it <3

Don't be so quick to judge him based on your previous experiences with
him. He's actually terrific in this role, at least I (and most
others from IMDB) think so. His character is a major prick and
extremely unlikable, but that's why I believe he's a talented actor.

Go watch it, and it should pay off for a real drama lover.

I strongly doubt it. I mean seriously. The only thing he's ever been OK in was those BMW films as the driver. THAT'S IT.

He's is one of the s**ttiest actors I have EVER seen, I doubt his acting is that much better in Closer. Not to mention from what I've seen in the trailers with him, his line delivery is just as s**tty as it's always been.

I think in this situation if Clive Owen shines somehow, Jude Law didn't do as good of a job that he normally does. :|

I know that i am prolly the only snarkpit member keeping up with the "Enterprise" series, but they are presently making Archer, even more legendary that either Kirk, or Picard.

i am so happy with the direction the series is taking, they are not only filling in the gaps before Kirks time, but they are creating answers for questions no one asked yet.

i just hope, it breaks their 7 year barrier that the trek universe has established.. enterprise the series has much to do yet.

The Dawn of the Dead Remake is one of the best zombie movies I've ever seen. Seriously. The original Dawn of the Dead was such a piece of s**t. Night of the Dead and Day of the Dead were even bigger piles of garbage.

Dawn of the Dead (2004) is just good zombie fun.

[EDIT]
I liked Ving Rhames.
However, I f**king hated Mekhi Phifer.

Adam, i live in a dead zone.. i cannot get any TV signals on an aerial antenna, so i am forced to get it either via cable or satellite.. i chose satellite since our cable company blows chunks.

needless to say, with most satellite you cannot get any local channels, don't ask me why, but at least, right here, i cannot get a single one.

enterprise is on UPN in the states, and its local

i download ALL my enterprise episodes, and the clarity is actually better than my TV receives through the dish, so its worth the wait.

i DO NOT consider this piracy cause its available via aerial for most on public channels.
i can give you links to all the shows if you desire.

Dawn of the Dead (2004) was one of those movies that you didn't think much about it but when you actually see it your like "wow that was an awesome movie". I almost never go out to the movie theatres but I happened to go see DOTD in the theatre when I was super bored and there weren't any other good movies to go see at the time. I really liked the part where the redneck was on the rooftop target practicing with the zombies. That was hilarious.

I liked the Librarian. The cinematics were not the greatest but with the limited budget, I think they did well. And I am glad to see Noah Wyle on another role besides in ER. He deserves to move up in the acting world, because he is a good actor.

"Maria Full of Grace" is a sobering tale about a young and rebellious
Columbian girl who aged beyond her seventeen years in a course of five
days. She was steadfast in the face of adversity, but the
harrowing story can make even the most calloused audience quake at
heart.

It's a movie worth watching, for anyone from any country. It is
in Spanish, with English subtitle. But I didn't feel impeded in
anyway by the language barrier. It's out on DVD already in the
States.

I've done this three times now, once without toilet breaks in fact! I was very, very cabbaged at the time, though...

It doesn't actually help with the continuity of the plot for me, it still just seems like three different films one after the other. And yet I still do it, dems 3 good films. Every time I watch the films Legolas' lines make me cringe. He's the only character that irrates me in the film version.

I never got the extended editions, I should have held out for a while. What a shameless way to rip people off. I'll prolly still buy it though.

The extended editions are so much better then the theatrical cuts. I don't consider then Theatrical cuts versions of the films anymore.

This might interest you, Mephs. It's about $100 (US) which is a decent deal taking that each one separately is about $40 to $50 (US)

By the way, they said an extended edition was coming out a few months after the theatrical cut when they released fellowship of the ring ...

 No, I have never gotten paid for my writing. My writing isn't really worth anything. In fact, I am reading "Middlesex" by Jeffrey Eugenides currently, and this author never stopped astonishing me with his writing skill. Compared to him, I write like a retarded toddler with cerebral palsy.

He's Dead, duh.

I saw Blade: Trinity last night. It's an amalgam of the other two movies. I am definitely impressed by Goyer's command of the camera and his actors. This is by far the most well made (visually) Blade movie. The story is just sparse because Blade is no longer the focus of the film, like in the other two. In that sense, it doesn't feel like the other two films. There are a few secondary characters I didn't give two s**ts about. It basically has the "Mexico Effect", as I call it. In Once Upon a Time in Mexico there are so many new awesome characters that you really don't care what happens to any one person. Not saying 'Mexico' is bad, I love that movie, but it IS just a fun movie to watch. Trinity is the same just with less characters.

Trinity also, finally, strays from the same three act structure the other two movies have (except Act I, it's fairly the same).

If you liked Blade and Blade II, more so Blade II, then you'll like Blade: Trinity.

Not according to the precog

On another note, yours seems to be the only
positive opinion I've found for Blade: Trinity. Otherwise, all I hear
is that it's utter grabage, especially compared to the first two.

You're not talking about critics are you? Because they really have terrible opinions to movies. It's as if every movie needs to be a potential film of the year for them to like it.

Trinity is like all the other comic book movies. None of them are good movies (except Hulk and X2), but they're awesome.

That probably doesn't make sense, does it?

Nah, a few of my mates acquired a copy, and all proclaimed it as "utter
s**t". Not as bad as AVP, apparently, but they did say that it had
nothing that make the the first two good. They didn't really go into
specifics though, heh.

Nope. Is this the "so bad it's good" school of thought?

No, Evil Dead is really the "So bad it's good" type deal. Comic Book movies fall under an entirly different area. I wouldn't trust most people's opinions of comic book movies. Because to really enjoy them you'd have to be a fan of the comic (not really true in Blade though  ).

Dude, I hate The Evil Dead. Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn and Army of Darkness are awesome.
I can't believe that Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn is actually a sequel and not a remake.

Wasn't evil dead made on a low budget though? I liked it for the gore, hugs copy of ichi the killer. I haven't seen evil dead two or army of darkness though, are the plots good, coz I think thats where evil dead was let down.

They're ridiculous, but so awesome.
They're actually funny though, the first movie isn't funny it's just
bad.

Raimi made The Evil Dead when he was in film
school. Cheap ass movie. However, Rodriguez is God when it comes to
making a low budget movie. El Mariachi (awesome movie) only
cost him $7000. Yet it looks so expensive. He basically just cuts
costs by removing needless things (such as cranes in a city area and
catering).

Using spray-painted waterguns in lieu of any real or replica firearms saved him a bundle too. I think that's possibly my favorite ultra-low budget film.
