Ok, let me know if it's not working still. If for some reason you really hate them, you can turn them off in preferences.

badass, they have borders in Mozilla. Okay, I'm going to turn them off now :smile: I don't think it's a matter of hating them, it's just ... personally, I'm used to browsing the site through the main page, I mean there's the link on every page.

Just a personal preference ... which I'll apply in a moment.

[EDIT]
Um ... could you put the links back to the forums on the front page if you have the drop downs disabled?

Dunno if this is too late, but I got the borders to appear in Firefox AND Internet Explorer by changing:

<!--code-->Code:[quote]<div style="font-family: courier;"><pre><div id="forumContent" class="dropdown"
style="width:165px;height:114px">
[/pre][/quote]<!--/code-->

to

<!--code-->Code:[quote]<div style="font-family: courier;"><pre><div id="forumContent" class="dropdown"
style="width: 165px; height: 114px; background-color:black;
border: 1px solid #AA0000">
[/pre][/quote]<!--/code-->

So if you're autogenerating them with PHP, it should be easy to modify.

Edit:Probably some issue with the DIV not inheriting the BODY properties by default in FFox while working in IE?

Well, then why are the links coming out the right colour? Hrm anyway I think they work for everyone now, if not upgrade your browser or turn them off! :razz:

The drop menus were my idea... intitially lep was against it, but I thought the snarkpit needed something- reminds me a lot of an old MS dos style gif website atm...

Typical. I'm the only one who still has completely transparent menus...
ah well. I've also turned them off, but is it possible to make it so
that if you turn off the menus the old forum list on the front page
reappears? I used to use that thing a lot, don't know if anyone else
did.

Good job getting the drop down borders working in FF, looking fiiiiiiiiiine :smile:

I think you should make the forum list on the index page an option
rather than auto-off WITH drop down and auto-on without. IMO, the more
customisable the site the better.

Yes, I too have invisible backgrounds on my dropdown menus. However...I am in a computer lab at school, and this is not my own. Maybe they have something deactivated....

LOL....Like I'm gonna read 75 pages of site suggestions.

How about just building in the simple BB Code links, so we can click on them rather than figuring out to click on the "BBCode" link looking at it, going back....blah blah blah.

Reno, there's not much point when the forum info is available on the drop-down- I know how you feel, but I think it's something that can quickly be adjusted to :smile: And yes about the props, been too lazy to add support for that so far...

I'll also add bbcode quick links once I figure out how to get my caret code working in Firefox too, if anyone has any working links (especially where you select text and press a button, and it puts tags around it) please post them here :smile:

Seconded. Would be really nice to see some custom props cropping up on the site.

Because you have drop down menus activated. Deactivate that (which will make the menus go away, obviously) and it will put the direct links back on the front page.

By the way, Lep, thanks for making it optional :smile:

The drop-down menu now works flawlessly for FireFox as well. As
of yesterday, the text were barely legible because the menu background
was translucent.

Thanks Lep. You the man.

With the map reviews bit, would it be possible to have it so that it can be sorted by rating instead of just alphabetical.

All you have to do is click on 'score' right under the review index and it will be sorted by scores.

I looked at the models section of the HL2 files page, and really think
your sections could use some reform. Why would you have an entire
sections dedicated to aircraft, tanks and cars when you could just
bundle them all into vehicles? Furniture is also far too generic a
section and most of props from HL2 would be classed under it - I'd
suggest adding things like "industrial" and "urban" and keeping
furniture for things like couches and tables.

is there something happening with the snark icons? the last couple of times on arriving at the pit, all of the icons that indicate new posts are coloured, like they should be. but as soon as i go to a forum page, all the icons are greyed out.

I haven't done anything to that code.

Reno, the sections are organised like that because we don't have sub-sub-sections, and I want to avoid having hundreds of prefabs under the same one section.

I have noticed, far more questions asked, than answered in the editing forums. This is inevitable of course, but my concern is, the asking parties sometime fail to return and mark the question solved.

we need to stress this conclusion when ever or where ever possible.

A compulsory search of previous questions might cut this down a bit. Perhaps a clearup of all the one-login-wonder questions after, say one month might tidy the place up (but would answers be marked as 'answered' or just deleted?)

What about testing out the Suggested answer, and marking them correct then? It makes the community look clueless with all those Question marks!

I wasn't suggesting adding sub-sections, nor was I questioning the
prefab groups (if they are working then thats cool) - I just think that
for props the groups could be better. As there are currently none,
perhaps I'm jumping the gun, but I can see there being more in the way
of industrial, household, urban or sci-fi models that many of us will
have learn to make if we want originally themed levels, rather than
difficult things to make that are unlikely to see much use, such as
planes or tanks.

Slight visual bug - for some reason the green line underneath the quote
and reply buttons isn't there any more. The green line continues under
the normal icons in a post, but may be covered by the buttons in the
posts. Minor point, but worth mentioning I guess...

Map reviews should be listed (or have the option of being listed) on
the front page. It might encourage people to write them if their place
on the site was more obvious, as currently you have to go into a
section of the website that has been pretty much dead for years in
order to see if there is anything new. I had no idea Yak had posted a
few new ones until now, for example.

I still reckon the reviewer should be listed on the map reviews list as well, something like...

Map001 by Mapper

Whatever crazy conclusions have been drawn...

i saw this 3 times today, once in a posted url link to a screen shot, and twice in my tutorial.

for some reason, when you submit the url is altered and a second "HTTP://" is added, thereby rendering the link dead.

it could be an isolated incident, but the occurrence in two separate locations has me wondering.

The only problem I've seen recently is people (i.e. you Orph :razz: ) having a new line halfway through a URL, thus breaking the code! But the thing is, it's NOT hard to enter a proper URL with bbcode and get it working properly, so you can edit it. If however there are other ways to break the code which are easily reproduced, fire away :smile:

Some images in this post have been automatically down-sized, click on them to view the full sized versions:

I just re-installed a bunch of stuff, and now I'm getting a bit of a problem in FF with the borders around posts being all missing and stuff... Not exactly sure what would cause the problem, but heres a picture-

I ain't done nuffing, guv'nor :sad: Why am I getting sick of Firefox and it's inability to show borders properly? In this case, it's meant to use an image- press refresh once or twice to see if that fixes it.

I was wondering if the all mighty Lep would consider adding an area about XSI. I haven't read all 77 or so pages of this thread so if it has been suggested please forgive me. I've noticed more and more XSI questions popping up and maybe you could add an area for it. Just a thought. :smile:

Just use Art. That being said, we don't have many modellers around here, and even fewer people who use XSI. And nobody uses the Art forum anymore. Say Lep, hows about making me the posthumous moderator of the Art forum? :dorky:

Given that nobody actually seems to know anything about using this (awful) program, the answer is no, there's an Art forum :razz:
