For the last 24 hours I've been unable to get the new SDK update as it keeps telling me "The Steam servers are currently too busy to handle your request. Please try again in a few minutes," despite the Steam status page saying all the European servers are fine. Anyone else had this problem?

And I read somewhere that this update is over 100mb. If so, f**k you Valve for shafting all us 56k-modem-mappers. I don't need to re-upload megabytes of info every time I want to change a small part of this website...

If this is the one where it gives you the option to " resfresh
settings" or something then yea, it took me just over 5 mins to get.

Guess what: i had some mapping to do aswell. But noooo, i have to wait (urm, how much was that again? another 122minutes and 17 seconds?) for a f**king update I DIDN'T REQUEST! They can keep it, i don't want it, yet they shove it down my throat. Happy day!

[edit (added 30 seconds later)]

Ohh, lookie: it says 522 minutes and 125 seconds! And note that I have a 100mbps connection. Slightly slow, but not like this!

Mhh, somewhere around a hundred minutes here too. Nevermind, I've got to go to work soon anyway so for me it's not a problem...

More likely for my brother if he wants to play CoD online right now...

And for all those mappers out there that do have enough free time to map at the moment...

People might be interested to know that you can still run hammer while
updating by using a desktop shortcut, however the compile tools
unfortunately do not work

I got it in about 45 minutes. I just left my computer and ate breakfast and read the newspaper.

However, when I got back, Hammer has problem loading up the game config
file for HL2. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Is
there a quick fix? I probably have to mess around with the
directory. If anyone else has figured it out already, please post
it here to save me some time. I greatly appreciate it.

Yea, its not in the sample content folder, it's in the sourcesdk/hl2 or
sourcesdk/cstrike folder. Apprently clicking refresh game configs in
the sdk fixes this.

If you get disconnected it won't be lost, you can resume from where you left off.

hmmm........HL2DM will be ready in 6 minutes, and I just clicked it

What is with all this crying? Back in the day they would release 100 meg patches like the TFC update that you had to download or else you couldn't play, and I managed to download the whole thing with a 24.4kbs AOL connection... and now I'm going to download this 100 meg patch with a 24.4kbs AOL connection

I'm not so sure BC is really closer to Seattle, you're a good fifty miles north of Bellingham, and I think it's ~90 miles from there to Seattle... not that it matters.
