What Do You Do.... Other Then Internet?

So, I haven't made a thread in a while. So I decided to make one that doesn't completely suck.

So, what do you guys do other then sit on the computer and map? College? Job? <span style="color: lightblue;">Girlfriend?

I really don't have a life, but I'd say that I mostly go to school, or am working.

in the summer i lifeguard at a boyscout camp

basically other than that i spend alot of time scouting

I've been getting into BB Gun wargames.

I have been playing with about 12 real people! (as opposed to PC and
NET which i have a lame as 56k modem for) theres a few derilect X
millitary bunkers in my town and we been smoken and enjoyin games like
King of the hill (king gets the 200round clip Shotgun BB gun, oh
wanktastically good) and team capture the flag, its set up a bit like
Battlefeild PC game with objective points and respawn points. all the
people I play with are mad HL and BattleFeild players, its really funny
how you see there PC tactics and traits come out on the real feild.

IF theres anyone in Wellington NZ that wants to play then please get in contact with me as it will be a fun smoky day.

Well Paint balls are undoubtabley better! but...

BB gun costs about $20 - $80NZ

Paintball Gun excluding gas costs about $150 - $800

Also if you want to go paint balling you generally need to book in
advance and go for a set time. with our games, we do it on a wim, go
for as long as we like and it costs us a sh*t load less, although there
is always the debat over if you were shot or not, but its all fun and
games in the end.

And you can mod a BB gun that only cost you $50. My opinion: If you
have access to paintballing Go For It, if it will never happen get a
cheap bb gun, they are great for lightbulbs. my flat is constantly in
the dark

you make a good point

be sure to wear glasses. i accidentally shot a friend of mine in the
eye +-7 years ago. it turned out to be okay but it could have been
devastating.

I spend a lot of time in class or reading or doing homework for class.

Other than that I think I spend most of my time with friends.
Most of the time its just hanging out but sometimes we play burnout,
and sometimes we go and toss the frisbee. Every Friday and
Saturday I go and get drunk and play Beruit and dance occasionally.

In a month most of my free time will be taken up by swim season.

Occasionally I draw, but most of the time I spend listening to music, which I love.

School, homework, and work. Used to skate but I no longer have the time. :sad:

Satch... what organization do you work with? I live in the LA area, and have been thinking of doing some type of volunteer work. I called the salvation army, but didn't get a very enthusiastic vibe. Looking for something hands on, working with others, weekend type stuff. Curious to know what all is out there.

Well my time is mostly divided between a) school b) computer and c)
flight school (the only thing that keeps me going) and, as of next
year, d) driving school .

I kinda have two lives - uni life, and home life. Oddly enough, while
most people would associate the uni life wth the partying and fun, for
me it is completely the other way around.

At uni, I'm studying for a BSc Hons in Computer Games Technology at the
University of Abertay, Dundee. I'm in my 4th and final year, so
starting on my honours project (well I say starting, I mean
considering starting :biggrin: ). My flatmates past and present have all
been coursemates, and considering my course, its no great surprise that
my uni life hasn't been filled with party animals or copious numbers of
females! In my spare time at uni, I chill with my flatmates, dabble in
level design/game design/modelling (though not recently), watch
downloaded anime/TV shows, play many many games, head to the union or
the odd gig with some other mates, and thats about it. Feels kinda
shallow this year, though it never bothered me in the past. I guess
before I had 5 flatmates, now I only have 2, so its getting lonely or
something :biggrin: Typically this year I'm only heading out about once a
fortnight, though that wasn't much higher in the past.

At home on the other hand, life is a whole lot different. Having lived
there my whole life I know pretty much everyone, which means there is
normally something going on. Be it chilling at one of the pubs with a
group of mates, going to my mates' band's gigs, heading to Edinburgh
for a few nights out, going to the cinema, bowling, introducing some
mates to long long nights of compulsive anime watching, or just sitting
at the beach and knocking back a few bottles. Oh and still plenty of
gaming, of course :smile:

Well, a year ago, my life contained four things:

School

Friends

Girlfriend

The computer.

However since i dont do any excercise at school anymore i've started
karate and i got very suprised on how fun it was. It feels great to
train your whole body, agility,speed and mind, not just the muscles. I
thought i hated everything that had to do with sports until I started
Karate. So, now ive added one more thing to the list:

School

Friends

Girlfriend

Karate

Much less time by the computer

I think Satchmo is the only one on here with an acual life :-P.

• College - I'm in my final year, and can't wait to get done with it.

• Driving - Riding my motorbike, actually. I just can't get enough of it. Pity that petrol is getting way too expensive :sad:

• Hobbies - took up my old love for martial arts again recently.

• Goofing off - can be very time consuming if done right. My one true passion.

I went 24 hour paintballing once, it was phat, me and two other guys
got chased up this river valley for about 2 hours by a squad of 7 or 8
enemys, we had a part of the doomsday device so it was a pretty hairy,
just me and my mate made it out there, we took out 3 of their guys but
it was about 3am and light was nothing.

How would that be called kung-fu? Have you already learnt it before and you practice it now? (how old are you, 50? )

There is no such thing as "kung-fu" TBH. Every class teaches a small
subset of the various styles of martial arts that make up the so called
Chinese Wushu . These styles have fixed practice methods that you must
learn from a proper master, since there is no way you can think up the
exact same things on your own.

Only after you master the basics, which can take ages, can you even
dream about composing your own technique. I have never heard of anyone
doing this in ~7 years of experience.

Anyway, in case you have been trying to teach yourself hand-to-hand
combat, stop now. You'll learn nothing useful, and you can also hurt
yourself greivously, and permanently, in the process.

well I do practice kung-fu... not a specific style but more like a combination of them.

Yes, I mean THAT kind of powerball. It is excercising. It gives you
stronger muscles :smile: (that's not what i'm after tho, in the world of
kung-fu, speed defines the winner :razz: ). It just gives you strength. I'm
not the strongest man in the world and I am not the slimmest either,
but 12601 rpm with it is a good result for a 17... i guess at least.
Sometimes I powerball for 2 hours staright with small breaks from time
to time and THAT's when the records start coming. You should try it
sometimes.

no not squeezing. you twist your wrist to keep the inner wheel rotating, hence creating a gyroscopic effect. As you maybe have seen in mechanics, this creates a force, excerted on your hand/wrist in this case.
