You must have much better funded libraries than I have ever seen.

They all share too. AND You can put anything you want on hold. They're not really "funded" per say, pretty much everything they have was donated, which is pretty amazing, because they have like everything except absolutely new releases. Also, they charge a bit if you're late. You get the stuff for seven days, but, they charge you $1.00 per day per DVD after that. Needless to say, I never risk being late, since I usually have about nine titles out at a time (You can rent 25 at any given time)
Anyway, if you're not lazy, everything is good because it's all free.

Rented some movies (choices were not my own), the only one rented that I hadn't seen was Sky High. I thought the movie looked "alright" by the trailers.

It wasn't too bad. I was actually surprised at how funny it was ... until the plot becomes ridiculously obvious. Granted I enjoyed the movie, for the most part ... I'd rather watch The Incredibles ... they're very similar. While there were many people in the movie that I enjoy: Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Spider-Man, Alien Apocalypse), Dave Foley (Kids in the Hall, News Radio), Kevin McDonald (Kids in the Hall), Kevin Heffernan (Super Troopers), there were many things I didn't like. It starts out really well, and it really funny ... and like a lot of movies, when they tried getting down to the plot ... it just fell apart. Everything past 50 minutes into the movie, or so, is completly and ridiculously obvious.

The other major downfall: It's a superhero movie with one ... mildly shown ... giant monster fight. Spoiler: <|The pathetic "capture" tactic used by the villain is ... so stupid. Granted the idea, when you think about it, is poetically evil and rather ironic. It was just the poor delivery.|>

I'd suggest seeing it if you have some time to kill and didn't pay too much (if anything) to see it. Other than that: don't bother.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Had 13 hours of bus riding this weekend to get to and from 2 different
colleges for swim meets. The rides were pretty boring, but we
watched quite a few movies.

Bloodsport, Gladiator, Heavyweights, and 40 Year Old Virgin.

Gladiator is obviously an amazing movie, and 40 Year Old Virgin is
really really funny. I enjoyed it more the second time through.

Heavyweights is every Disney token fat kid thrown into one movie, but its worth seeing because of Ben Stiller.

Watched Ong-Bak today in the English dub (watched the original Thai w/subs before). Which solidified my preference for subs in movies, it just doesn't convey the same feeling. And that movie is just good fun to watch.

I saw Arlington Road a couple of weeks ago. Still a good movie, although if you have seen it once, the fun's over.

I've also seen Hostage, with Bruce Willis, which was enjoyable too. Finally came to watch Sin City, which was superb, of course.

Another one to watch is Layer Cake, but keep your ears and eyes open, the plot is not that simple.

Watched The Rundown the other day, pretty decent flick if a bit ridiculous (yeah, The Rock's a badass, but taking down 20 guys with guns without using a gun? Balderdash!)

Watched Dawn Of The Dead (original version) a few weeks ago, good flick, also a bit ridiculous but that can be blamed on the special effects of the 70's. Pretty s**tty survivalist tactics too, but I guess during a zombie invasion you can't expect everyone to be at the top of their mental game.

Saw the remake of the previous movie tonight, everyone seemed too calm to be in a zombie movie. Pretty amazing to see that people are still in the mood during a zombie invasion as well. So yeah, remake's got better special effects but it's just not as cool as the original. Especially those fast zombies, it makes it more exciting but it's just plain stupid.

i'm watching Lost, i'm currently at episode 4 of season 2. nice that it's not your usual run of the mill show. nice tension. sometimes predictable though. best bit i saw untill now was Locke's dream about Boone saying "theresa falls up the stairs, Theresa falls down the stairs"

watched a few other movies, like Narnia. wasn't displeased with it, the effects made up for the family-film aspects

Yeh, it's a good movie, shame I had to see it with Bitchel.

Rented Ecks vs. Sever last night for the reason that I'd never heard of it, and now I realize it was mostly for good reasons. Cool enough action and all but simultaneously boring.

Just screened Hoodwinked last night.

Excelent movie to bring the kids to while the adults will get a couple of laughs out of it too.

It's a really spontanious film depicted in the style of a three tier
perspective story telling -- 3 people tell their storys and the
strangeness makes sense witht the others. And the movie reference
list is large, depictions of XXX, Matrix, Star Wars, and some more I
can't even think of right now.

But seriously, this is really an indie film. (Aparently the entire
animation was completed by two guys before it was oicked up by
Weinstein) So don't diss it about not haveing the best visuals.
-- I thought the visuals fit the dipiction of the story quite nicely.
You know, I've actually got nothing to say

I just got volumes 1 and 2 of Batman the animated series. Such an awesome show.

Now if only MGM would give up the rights on seasons 1 and 2 of Reboot and Fox would suck it up and release a box set for the Tick, I'd be very happy.

Watched:

1) Wedding Crashers and pissed down both legs.
2) Band Camp was alternately pissing and dry. Movie has its moments though.
3) The Cave was unoriginal and not at the same time. I liked it but I wouldn't analyze it to close.
4) Black Dawn was not a Seagal best. Was good but only good.

Saw Underworld 2 last night- kinda surprised me, it was pretty good. Goes a bit more into the lore of the story, fleshes some stuff out, and picks up well from where the first one left off.

Best part was in the previews though- LINK!?

I almost crapped my pants when I saw that. Scared the hell out of my friends too, when I was just staring blankly at them with a huge grin plastered on my face.

Good times. Good times. Looks to be a pretty good creative interpretation of the original- a few key changes, but the heart of it seems to be intact, which is what the series is about IMO.

So should be a good time.

With Ben Stiller and Jack Black in the same movie, I expected less tbh. Then Christopher Walken shows up as J-Man, he had some pretty good lines. Anyway, I saw Envy several months ago and I thought it was pretty good.

Recently watched:
Versus - Wasn't very deep, but was very cool. Lots of fighting and zombies getting pwned
and stuff. Like when the unarmed guy was fighting the guy who had two knives. Lot's of cool violence and no real message to be found ^^
The Matrix - This is still one of my favorite movies. There's too much about this movie that I like to list it all, so I'll give the abridged version: Good actors, good directors, good action, compelling story... I think that about sums it up.

List of movies to be watched in the near future:
 • The Matrix: Reloaded (again)
 • The Matrix: Revolutions (for the first time)
 • Seven Samurai (is highly recommended by friends that have seen it)
 • Equilibrium (again)
 • Mononoke Hime (again, and definitely not dubbed)
 • Narnia (bah... might as well)
 • Samurai Champloo (again (I loved this series))

Last night I watched Killing Zoe (1994).

I didn't like it very much. Quentin Tarantino was executive
producer, and there were many long conversation type scenes... but they
weren't very well done or very memorable. There were many scenes
in which I wish they had just cut away instead of forcing us to sit
through it all. The story itself wasn't even that great (despite
having both a monkey and a hiest... yeah Dane Cook wouldn't believe it).

I just finished watching Elephant (2003).

Visually I loved the colors, the short focus, the over the shoulder
tracking shots, and the way the main character, John, looked and
acted. However, Gus Van Saint has a propensity for long long
shots which seem to drag on for an eternity. I could deal with it
in the beginning (because the actor who played John was quite good) but
later on it just got tedious and frustrating. The actor who
played the jock in the lifeguard hoodie was just terrible.

Overall, the ending wasn't very good... they could have handled the
shooting in a variety of more interesting ways. Also, the ending
was pretty abrupt and didn't feel like it tied things together. I
think they were going for an ending similar to Full Metal Jacket's M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E singalong, but it didn't have the same effect.

Just watch the trailer for Elephant, it's much more interesting (since they actually cut) and it'll give you a feel for the entire film.

Saw 2 had nothing to do with the original creators of Saw. Just to note.

I saw Underworld 2 awhile ago. I loved it. It's probably the only movie I've ever seen which isn't as much a sequel, but an extension of the previous movie.

And I'm going to crap my pants when I see Silent Hill.

Watched my new stolen version of Zorro. Was OK I guess, if you like Banderas.

Was digging through my old black/whites. We need to make a list of truly classic old-time movies.

Anyone besides me like classics?

I was also searching google. I just remembered that Guy Williams did the last Zorro. When I was a kid, he did John Robinson of Lost in space.

Speaking of black/whites I watched The Maltese Falcon
a few days ago. Bogart is the man. The movie is apparently
in the top 25 of AFI's top 100 movies of all time. Despite a few
editing/cutting errors I'd tend to agree. The story is amazing,
and the ending unparalelled.

I saw "The Man" tonight ... as well ... It has that horrid cookie cutter formula with known celebrities slapped on to make it "watchable". However, besides that: It's pretty goddamned funny. I was really surprised.

I also watched part of "Deadly Outlaw Rekka" ... made by Takashi Miike, Itchy the Killer. The plot is like 0% ... it's just violent. If you want to see a crow bar go through a guys face ... this movie is for you. If you want to see an RPG rocket ram someone in the gut .... this movie is for you. If you want an ending that makes absolutly no sense ... this movie is for you.

I'll see "Lord of War" tomorrow (best chances) ... I hear it's good, but the characters will piss [you] off. I'll post something up here if I remember.

I loved Lord of War. It's a pretty good story, and doesn't guilt you into thinking guns are horrible, nor firmly state that they're amazingly awesome- it draws the line somewhere in the middle and just portrays how the whole situation is, without really edging towards one side or another.

I was really worried it was going to be this huge anti-gun campaign, but it really isn't.

Sad little movie though.

A couple of my buddies said the same thing, they thought it was a surprisingly good movie. I'll try to rent it soon.

I grew up on the original series of movies about "Jason and the Argonauts"

I, as a child thought that going to the drive in and watching them was great to say the least.

Somehow this version got past me without my knowing.

Tonight, on the Sci-Fi channel, they are showing it and I plan on seeing it.

If you have sci-fi, check your listing.

It comes on in T-minus 6 minutes.

The best things in life, aren't things.

My flatmates and I picked up a few DVD's over the past few days, and just started watching them tonight. First on the list was volume 2 of Gantz - a wierd and explicit, but cool and intriguing anime. The first volume is vicious and violent but the story is enough to make you want you to keep watching through the exploding heads, flying limbs, and embarrasment of dogs with sexual tendancies towards naked young women. This second volume slowed the violence and focused on the perverted main character and the horribly awkward to watch fixation he has on his new female friend. It's one of those shows with a likeable character that you want to "do well" and succeed at things, but at the same time you find yourself squirming in your seat knowing fine well that you will want to slap him for the next thing to come out his mouth. Anime fans who don't mind (or can bear) a bit of smut mixed in will find a lot to like about the show, but it's not for everyone!

Next up we watched Be Cool, the follow up to Get Shorty. I really enjoyed Get Shorty and so, despite the mostly bad press that Be Cool seemed to get, I wanted to give it a shot. I'm glad I did too, as while it wasn't as good as the first movie, it was far from unenjoyable. Most of the characters were likeable in one way or another - from Vince Vaughn's pathetic "Beee-atch!", to The Rock's self-parodying eyebrow raise - and though the plot did mimic the first film in maybe one too many ways, it worked out ok in my eyes.

Saw Munich today. One of the best and most raw movies I've seen in a while.

Lord of War was good. The characters are disgusting human beings, however.

So, I finally watched Harry Potter 1-3. I originally had no desire to see any of them until two things happened: Gary Oldman joined the ranks and I learned (and heard) John Williams did the score (which is fantastic, I should add). I really enjoyed them. Far darker than I could have imagined, also. I think the first one is the only one that perhaps borderlines as a "children's movie". The others are just ... brutal.

Also, Chamber of Secrets has just about the most badass snake in any movie ever.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

I'm waiting until they are all done, then I'm gonna watch 'em all in one go.
