I believe Lep did a project on Teflon back in A-Level. I think its the way in which teflon is applied or made. I think only 1 side is super smooth, the other is rougher allowing it to be applied to items/fixed with heat etc.

I do not doubt you sir but, How then would they attach it to an aluminum pan? Aluminum burns at far lower temps.

On Teflon:

• Teflon is the DuPont trade name for polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).
• PTFE is "nonstick" because it is both very hydrophobic and chemically inert. If you were to prepare the surface of the aluminum pan in such a way that it was lipophilic, the PTFE would stick quite nicely to it. However, I doubt it is as simple as that. There is probably a fairly sophisticated chemical process that is used. You could for instance coat the surface with a different alkene, and then polymerize the TFE right onto the surface.
• 2000 degrees C. is almost hot enough to BOIL aluminum, let alone melt or burn it. Besides, PTFE will decompose at much lower temperatures anyway.

Sure. Didn't you know? Dads above the Equator lift the right butt cheek and Dads below the equator lift the left cheek. Thereby causing wind to move in a given direction or path. Usually straight to Mommy who whacks the Dad for smelling up the place. Women tend to not notice the flow of the wind, just its consistency.

Yeah, I was wrong at least according to several online articles I've found. I just did a couple of experiments in my sink, and found that the whirlpool direction is determined by the initial conditions of the basin rather than any other overriding force.

The rotation of weather systems and ocean currents on the other hand are governed by conservation of angular momentum.

The direction of flow of water is mainly dependent on the shape of the bowl, and other toilet-specific factors. The Coriolis force acts differently depending on your latitude, but its so small as to not make a noticable effect.

Depends on the animal, and the television. CRT TVs have an effective refresh rate of about 30Hz (60Hz interlaced), which to us appears as a moving picture since humans see motion instead of still pictures above around 20Hz. Some animals will need a higher refresh rate to see motion, depending on the animal, they might see a series of still pictures, or more likely a strobing effect. An LCD display will not have the strobing effect. Many animals will see colour differently, as the colour receptors in their eyes are tuned to different frequencies.

I've fgot a question for you guys. Why do we capitilize the first letter of the first word in the beginning of a sentence. We use a peridod to end a sentence so why do we need to capitilize?

It has to do with english so I doubt anyone will figure it out.

Where did the letter 'H' come from?

In Greek, the Daddy of Latin, which is the Daddy of English(Germanic
languages are Mommy), "h" looked like an apostrophe('), it wasn't a real
letter, it was more of a puncuation.

There are phi: and theta: , "ph" and "th", respectively, but there's no real "h", only that semi-useless apostrophe.

In Latin, there's "ph" and "th", but "h" itself isn't used too much, so
it must've been a new letter, and an unimportant one at that.

So how did this letter gain

AH! a linguistics question!

The letter H is the anglicisation of the KH sound in the Indo-european language family. the KH sound is that guttural throat sound that is found in German as a CH (like the word buch), in Hebrew as a X(transliterated to a kh, ch or h), in Russian as a X (transliterated to "Kh"). In greek it's called Chi and it too looks like X.

Many people pronounce the German CH as an english SH, but although it may sound that way it's actually a "hawking a loogie" sound made in the back of the throat.

I have recorded an example of this in the Russian word Хорошо. Spelt in English, it's Khorosho.

On another note, it's probably worth saying that the notion of "gypsy"
has extended far beyond it's links with the Roma tribes. Now it is used
to describe any travelling peoples, and usually in a derogatory sense.
I find it unlikely that a gypsy in the US is a real gypsy (likewise in
the UK), but are more likely descended from the always hated Irish
tinker families.

This is dependant on the radio equipment used. The frequencies attainable are infinite, however, because of various tolerances and variations in equipment there is a finite set of possible frequencies that can be sent and received successfully. As manufacturing techniques improve, the set can possible become larger, but never infinite. Using multiplexing, it is possible to have multiple signals transmitted on the same frequency, which helps.

The game does not actually create an infinite space. The map is, at its simplest, a collection of vectors. What the player sees is calculated from more vectors describing where the player is and what the player is seeing. When you see the void, it just means you cant see anything at that point. If you noclip outside the map, you could keep going until your vector became too large for the game engine to handle, causing an overflow. When this happens, the game could clip your movement so you cant move far enough to cause an overflow, it could wrap the coordinate values so you appear on the other side of the map, or it could just overflow and crash.

I had that post waiting for most of today... hope we dont exceed daily bandwidth again anytime soon.

related: self-consciousness. to illustrate: when babies look in a mirror they see a playmate. it's only when they grow older that they know it's themselves. you can test this by drawing a dot on their forehead.

help them survive in the wild.

As for what came before, it can be explained this way. Without sentient beings and life, all things technically last forever since matter and energy cannot be created nor destroyed. Before life existed, there was no beginning OR end to anything, and thus no way to measure time, thus no time.

As for what caused the Big Bang? Answer: God.

I've noclipped in games for a LONG time. they crash. in some games you start back in the other side and go zooming through the level again.

Yes, maple trees can grow just about anywhere that oak trees can grow. Maple trees need a fair amount of water and can deal with very high and very low temperatures. So go ahead and grow some maples, make some syrup. I will send you some maple seedlings if you send me some cedars from lebanon. :smile:

We have a sense of self, because somehow we know that we exist, we know that we ARE. But, what is it to BE?
