This is a great place. Over the past 21 months, I've truly enjoyed my time here.
Almost immediately upon discovering this cozy corner of the internet, I was attracted by the unique map profile system, the smart conversation on the forums, and the diversity of the members. I really enjoyed being able to share my thoughts about works in progress, as well as display some of my own (after I built up enough courage to put myself out there). Even when I wasn't mapping, I really enjoyed sharing articles, cataloguing my recently watched/listened/read, and generally shooting the s**t with you all.
Even more so, for the most part I enjoyed the mental sparring that came with the many debates and discussions. I felt that in having to defend my opinions in the aforementioned threads, I edified my own thoughts and beliefs (even if I never managed to change people's minds  ). In this sense, the Snark Pit has helped me grow.
More importantly, I was given the chance to meet relatively like-minded people from nearly every continent. This exposure to diversity was invaluable. Some of you have become close friends (the closest I have online), and the people I've come to know over these years have garnered my permanent respect.
Now, I find myself at an important crossroads in my life. I just started my last swim season, I'm beginning my search for a job, and soon I will be going through English comprehensive examinations and writing my honors thesis. Additionally, I want to connect with as many members of my graduating class before I walk out with diploma in hand. In short, I need to focus all my energy on my real life at this point. The past few weeks of thinking have led me to decide that it's time to retire this online persona.
I realize that most people who stop visiting the Snark Pit do so invisibly, with no warning or goodbye. I?d be inclined to do likewise, except I've enjoyed my time here too much to leave without saying goodbye.
I look back on all the time and posts I put into this place, and I see it as an investment that paid dividends.
Finally, I created this thread to fulfill what I see to be my last duty as an admin: to let you know where I'm going, and why.
I?ve made sure all my contact information is up to date, so if you?d like to catch up or say hi in the future, feel free!
All the best,
Tom
P.S. :kitty: Sorry, I couldn't resist.

'Tis a shame, you will truly be missed. I too hope that you'll stop by every once in awhile, though I fully understand your reasons for leaving.
Peace out

You are an odd mixture. I still have you rated a "5" for your contributions to this site, but I will not lie and say that I am unhappy to see you leaving. Our personality conflicts were just more than I wished to endure.
For my part, I hope to see you in the very distant future and a bit more grown up.

This is not the proper place to discuss your funny bone. It would only ruin a thread with the best news this week.
(hows that for maturity folks? If you take it negatively or positively its all your doing. )
