I, Robot isn't nearly as bad as Maddox makes out, its a reasonably enjoyable action film. Having not read the book, I can't comment on its accuracy, but the action scenes are NOT lame (not the best I've seen but certainly impressive) and people who disagree clearly aren't into action films, and cannot be expected to like the film.

But ... is the action good enough to endure through all the other crap that automatically comes with a generic Will Smith movie?
By the way, I wont believe you.

I don't think the book would have translated into a very profitable
movie though (remember? It's all about profit!) And they might have had
a hard time signing on Will Smith if it was a more
philosophical/intellectual kind of movie. Granted, I haven't seen it
and don't plan on ever doing so.

The film takes the main idea behind what happens in the film- SPOILER: that protecting human kind should be a 0th law that takes precedence over individual lives; however, in the books it's not so Hollywood-ised and robots try to do it from behind the scenes. Other than that, it's very different from the book, apart from something to do with a murder.
Anyway, the film isn't that bad, although yes Will Smith does churn out his one-liners and attempts at funnies every two minutes, which gets irritating. I also found it incredibly predictable- not because I read the book, but as it's standard movie fare :/ Don't think I've ever seen such blatant product placement before either- it's not hard to miss what shoes he wears, and what car he drives...

Well, first off, I know Reno will f**king love this movie.
Basically, the movie is cheesy/corny and completely awesome.
This movie IS Aliens fighting Predator ... thats it. There's barely any character development with the humans in the movie.
This has also been one of the only movies I've ever seen that seems to go by in a heart beat, even though the running time is somewhere around 90 minutes.
What could have made it better?
More gore. An R rating ... breasts. Just follow the patterns of the other Alien/Predator movies and you'll get the idea.
However, this movie seems to have been made for the fan base. If you've ever read any of the comics ... you will dig this movie. (Theres a bunch of Alien references, besides the actual Aliens, as well)
Anyway, if you didn't like Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat, or Event Horizon ... go f**king blow your brans out now, I hate you

Crono, glad to hear it, I've been kinda looking forward to seeing it since seeing posters in the cinema and things. The trailer didn't impress me much but I'm glad to hear its a good cheesy action fest

The girl next door was decent.
The bourne supremacy was pretty poor overall. I felt like I was viewing the action scenes through the eyes of an epileptic.

Ehh. You were quoted in it. That makes you an accessory, and that's as bad as commiting the deed itself.

Dunno if anybodies posted it yet (Not going through 600 odd posts /: )
Pink Floyd, The Wall (Yes, its a movie too) - Verry trippy and makes you really think, even to come up with a storyline. Even better if you're stoned when you watch it)
Airplane! or any other Laslie Neilson film - A variation of comedy that you really can't find in anything nowadays

AVP is definetly a fun time... I wasn't expecting anything too groundbreaking, and I was pleasantly surprised. It's just a pretty fun time, nothing more, nothing less.

Pfft, I'm stoned right now.
Half life is fun like this, it really brings out the horror part in the game and makes it live.
Can't wait for Half Life 2, it will be REALLY fun.

Just got both volumes of Kill Bill on DVD. Great stuff. David Carradine
best evr. It would suck if they compiled some sort of special version
with both combined though, when I've already bought both of them.

I remember some wrestling film about some guy who doesn't want to follow the script or something and gets thrown out of the wwf [ its an old film]. Then at the end he ends up in this 3 cage match and some guy swings down on a rope to save him.
Also, Jay and silent bob strike back is funny 2

AVP ruined the series for myself. I loved the comics and the books, but the movie was pure utter crap.

Solaris remake = damn good stuff. haven't seen the original, so I can't compare, but I'm glad to see that Goerge Clooney can play someone other than a cocky, confident pretty boy.

Saw 'Once Upon A Time In Mexico' last night. Paper thin plot and completely bonkers - but surprisingly entertaining!
Oh, and Salma Hayek was looking extremely trim in it
Off to the shops in a min to get Kill Bill Vol. 2, as i've not seen that yet.

You have seen the other 2 movies before it in the series, right? I mean, they seem to have less plot and more gun fights as they go along, which is fine with me (since that series is bad ass ... and suspiciously similar to the 'Man with no name' trilogy)

I just saw The Village, and it started out as a good film, but slowly turned for the worst. I counted three major events, and at each time the movie took a nosedive. Subsequently, the first 40 minutes or so are the best, besides a few minutes of genuine tension closer to the end. The rest of it just bored me. M. Night Shyamalan can do a lot better than this.

AVP is a horrible horrible waste of a good idea. They had the chance to make up for Alien3, Alien:Resurrection, and Predator2 but blew it. Where are the colonial marines damnit?
The first half is so lame it's not even funny. I didn't care for any of the characters or even know their names, so if they died it didn't matter. I can't even tell you the main character's name! It wasn't scary. It wasn't even that much of an action movie, especially since the violence was so muted. By the end this turns into a big huge nerd fantasy, which is just lame.
You know you're in trouble when the old AVP computer game is scarier, more action-packed, and tells a story better. Whoever watches, you lose.
