well - it's 6:40 pm local time and like everyone I'm eagerly anticipating this game ... I hope it's up to scratch.

Just wishing everyone ... um ... luck with their hl2 purchase and playing the game through, etc.

will be interesting to see people's first impressions for this game.

Whew. Started playing at 2:15 central, just wrapped up my first session. Start of chapter 7 after four hours straight. :biggrin: woohoo!

Ah what a game! I've thoroughly enjoyed what I've played so far (just a
bit into ravenholm), though its not been particularly tough despite
being on hard. Hopefully the difficulty will pick up but regardless,
its quite incredible. The pacing, puzzles, set pieces, visuals...
everything is just great :smile:

i just wasted an hour in goddamn ravenholm running around the same area accomplishing nothing. its probably too early to find a walkthrough :/

Same bit as me perhaps? I just got into ravenholm and saw the crazy
shotgun wielding dude for the first time, but cant find a way past the
electic fence. Just looked around for a few minutes before deciding to
have a lunch break, but I didn't see any obvious solution.

nah I got past that part. SOLUTION:

Go back and turn off the fire around the tree. If you look behind it there's a doorway. Go in and up the stairs until you come to a window overlooking the electrified fence. There's a switch there to turn of the power, flip it and then move on.

I'm stuck about 2 loads ahead in a big area with an unending supply of zombies and seemingly no way to get to where I need to go. It sucks because I was all tense and pumped and then I ran into this brick wall. It's like I'm playing Jedi Knight all over again :/

I checked that area out before and it took me up to a sort of secret by
going through a vent above one of the big machines. I must have assumed
that was all the area was there for and not looked any further, oh well
:smile:

I can't get it till the end of the month :sad:

I'm relatively lucky - Amazon despatched my order a few hours ago, so
with a bit of luck I can install it tomorrow. Problem is, no net
connection 'til the weekend, so I might not be able to validate it!

Even at the weekend, I'm only on 56k. Looks like it'll be worth the extra few days though...

Arg. 10 1/3 hours straight. I'm on Chapter 10/14.

It's been virtaully pure brilliance all the way, except for some silly
sentry gun thingy that I kept dieing at...oh, and Dog is one of the
best characters in a game EVA. Seriously, the beginning of chapter 10
with Dog is one of the best bits I've seen so far. :biggrin: To sum it up, he
kicks some major ass. :smile: Everything about this game is just brilliant, and it kicks the crap out of what I played in the leak.

And Reno, once you reach chapter 8/9 or so, it starts to get tougher.
That's when I started having trouble not dieing at least . :biggrin: Oh man, so
many great bits in this game, you just wanna replay them all. And I've
got another 5 chapters to go! GLEE.

I've been playing for about an hour and am now on the point where you are going through the sewers/canals where you get shot at by a helicopter, anywhos I've decided to call it quits for the night lol.

I love how I can't login to Steam. It's brilliant.

I'm on the prison assault with the antlions at the moment, doing the
beach raid. It seems to be getting fairly tough at the point I'm at so
thats a good sign. Called that it for the night though, thats plenty
enough for one day I think :smile:

Ooh boy, Chapter 10-onwards is tough stuff. And those Striders simply refuse to die!
