PC Gamer has that pic I believe (only looked at it in the shop
ahem...). Apparently they are just harvester things and dont directly
attack you like striders do. Not that there is any similarity to striders or anything...

What I wanna know is, Why do we have an inside man on the Quake project and have to find new screen shots from outside the loop :/
Is there some kind of rule against pre-releasing info on this game of yours Andrew?
I'd never dream of asking you to jeopardizing your job, but... I hate hearing about something late, or even on time when I know someone who has seen these screens weeks/months ago.
/Me continues drooling.

FPS on a console is like oil in water. They just don't mix. PS2 needs to stick to God of War, Gamecube to Zelda and XBox to being lame. Leave 1st person killing to the PCers. Don't get me wrong, that screenie is pretty wicked, but it never looks as good on a TV set 5-15 away. Plus, you don't have as much control over the game in a console as you do on a PC. You have like what, 10 buttons MAX on a console? I have 6 on my mouse....for one hand. It just gets boring after awhile for me it seems trying to play an action game on consoles.
Wait...what is this thread about? Oh yeah....looks cool....keep it PC, folks

KFS is only a level designer, and as such is not allowed to release any info on the game unless its already been released by the PR division- geeze, thought you guys would have figured that out!
And Dark tree your a fewl, FPS on Xbox is kickass- I can't imagine playing UC2 on PC, just wouldn't work with the melee mode and such.
Final bitch- I don't like what Raven has done with Quake series, tbh, it doesn't look impressive, and it looks too much like Doom. None of the original escense has been kept. I know, I know, theres a new Makron, but still, the marines look completely different and the levels look like Doom 3 part 2.

I think Orph, it may be more useful for your crazy ideas to get to know someone from sales department so you never have to buy games again lol... Not supporting your friends by buying the game and hence giving them money... tisk tisk.

Myrk, you know my acquisition practices, but you would also be surprised at just how many games I do buy each year.
I have this thing for owning my own copies. As strange as that sounds, I want to have the originals of my favorites. So, even if I acquire a questionable copy in the beginning, you will almost always see the original around shortly afterward.
Just yesterday I bought Empire Earth 2..
Anywho's, I am poor, but I still spend several hundred dollars per year on my PC's.

That first pic looks pretty nice... perhaps there is still some hope for Q4 and the D3 engine!
Too bad my computer will choke and die on it though.

Doom 3 is kinda the same as HL2, maybe a bit more demanding because its all rendered in game as opposed to pre rendered lighting a la HL2.
On the note of Killzone, does anyone think that person in that screenshot has a resemblence to the guy from the TV program "Cheers!"?
If you analyse the video of that Killzone game (it all looks as good as that shot almost) then I don't think its too unfeasable to create it. There arn't many shadows and its just some really nice bump mapping or something done on the skins. Obviously it's been tweaked, but I don't think they've done much to it.

Cumon! You see it! Same bone structure, different hair line.
You have to agree though, the guy behind the Ted Danson guy looks f**king hilarious- his face looks so stupid.

Looking better, I saw the vid and didn't like it much. Looked
nice but it was the same space base type thing from doom 3. Dont
they have flat walls and well lit rooms in the year 2300!?
All these games look alot alike, metal bumb mapped walls, dynamic
lighting, pipes, steam, lots of shadows... I want to see some diffrent
locations!
though that screen shot with the cheers guy looks great!

Those screen shots really do look straight out of Doom 3.

I saw the Killzone video in the little Sony theatre at E3 - no way in hell that is ingame.
I agree that playing fps on a console feels akward, when coming from the pc. I do believe that controllers and interface options will improve, and eventually, this will be a moot point. Weighing, however, all of the other benefits of console over pc (especially with the next gen consoles actually surpassing pc's power at release), things look pretty damn good for console.
It's inevitable - fps will own consoles in the next generation, and you WILL like it!! Oh, and looking at COD2 running on a 40 inch HD tv... OMG. Beautiful.

I'd play more console FPS's if they would come out with a sort of FPS control, perhaps with a mouse ball replacing one of the joy's.
Oh, and there was somthing on G4 with an interview with a Killzone developer, apparently that is in game footage, they probably don't tell you about all the pre-rendered things they added to it.
You know, I've actually got nothing to say
