Saw Human Nature the other day, same Director of Eternal Sunshine. Very good movie with fantastic characters.

Something I really liked was the message of the film wasn't compromised even though it made the ending suck. Though I thoght the ending was great, my friends were dissapointed. Great acting, story, message, and neat film overall.

Has anyone seen the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory yet?
I've got the option of seeing War of the Worlds, Charlie and the CF, or
the Wedding Crashers. Suggestions?

i would have to say war of the worlds, french toast, it was a great movie but that funny little song for Charlie and the CF in the trailers really draws me to seeing it...

Yeah, I'm really tempted to see it, because Johnny Depp is a great actor.

I'm also really badly wanting to see the Wedding Crashers, because when
you've got Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn in a movie, it has to be
good. The only thing that could make it better is Ben Stiller.

I've sort of lost interest in seeing War of the Worlds though, too many bad things said about it so far.

now that i think about it, i would actually say see all three because Wedding Crashers and Chaerlie look really good and War of the Worlds was a good film.

what were the bad things said about it?

Look on this forum, it's taken a lot of flak about the ending.

Oh well, I'll see them all eventually

Human Nature was also written by Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malcovich, Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine, The 3)

I'd suggest War of the Worlds right now. I refuse to see "Charlie", I'm getting really sick of Tim Burton adaptations, especially of books. (And Yes, the new movie is an adaptation of the books, not a remake of the other movie) I've just been overall disappointed by his films in the last half decade (I'll make it sound as epic as I have to!)

I don't see how Wedding Crashers comes into the picture, since, it's not going to be funnier on a large screen with great sound. I'd suggest seeing something in which it will create an experience that you wont be able to re-create years later in your own home. WotW, is a prime example. But, whatever.

has any one seen the french film "Irreversable"? now that was one provocative film. the story and the message was really good but there some over the top secnes like a rape part that lasted a little too long to get a message across as well as the camera zooming in on a guys head as he gets beat over the head with a fire extinguisher.

i also say another french film in a modern art gallery in oso: "Get Rid of Yourself". it seemed to have no message as it ju,ped from scenes of a riot to a guy talking about how he wanted to fight the police to some american woman talking alot of weird philosopical stuff.

weird films ive see in the past few days.

Saw "Return of the Sith" or whatever it's called on my brother's
computer today... I guess it's the best of the new Star Wars movies,
but that's not really saying anything. It had some funny lines though,
like "You're breaking my heart!" I laughed out loud at that one. The
main thing I found humorous throughout the movie was how retarded
Anakin was compared to how cool Darth Vader is. Truly boggles my mind.

Saw War of the worlds.

I liked it, the ending left something to be desired but you have all made good points to that.

spoiler-

I didn't like the happy ending, I mean the kid should have been
dead. If the aliens sent 2 probes, and 3 footmen into that one
house you would think that they would have picked up rob after owning
all those military dudes.

but when spealberg does a movie, you know that everything will turn out ok for the main people (like that robot kid moive A.I.)

There were also alot of plot holes, apart from the almost invunrable
Ray. Like that camera that was still working when the tri pod
popped out of the ground. Also, why did the alien lasers pop
people like zits with out hurting their cloths, yet those same lasers
could saw a building in half? Or the kung-foo grip of that army
dude in the tri-pod cage?

-/spoiler

I really like Cruse in that movie though, he didn't play the cliche
bum-who-turns-into-super-man, he was just as scared as everyone else
and you could tell he was on the verge of falling apart. That
girl did a great job too, though she screamed and freaked out a little
too much.

another spolier-

I though it was neat how they had the part with the aliens checking out
the human artifacts in the house, if it wasn't for the killing all the
humans and spraying their blood over everything I think they could have
been kinda nice.

Saw Fantastic Four. All I'll say is, if you don't like the comic book: you wont like the movie. They're virtually identical (feel, story (almost), dialog, ... editing)

Needless to say I liked it, but I also like the comic, so.

i kinda agree with what dr glass said on war of the worlds. i thought it was really stupid that the cruise's son survived.

just watched Team america worldpolice - probably one of the funniest movies ive ever seen loved the singing terrorist in the terrorist bar

hotel new hampshire - 1980's controversial drama. strange but good. several family members die starting witht he dog then the gradfather then the mother and youngest son in a plane crash then the yougest daughter (8 or 9) commits suicide. a rape scene and several references and in fact scenes of incest. but altoghether a pretty good film.

Rented Assault on Precinct 13, enjoyed it more or less... the funniest
scene was when Laurence Fishburne's character had a gun and was
surrounded by 8 cops... I 100% expected him to bust out some Matrix
moves.

Saw War of the Worlds this last weekend. Not much to add to what's
already been said, though despite the somewhat weak sappy ending with
the kid, I was quite impressed by how dark and unrelentingly menacing
the film was.

One of the best parts of the book, the Thunder Child, was missing. A great shame.

Combining the artilleryman and the chaplain characters into that one
guy in the basement made sense, but they turned it into a silly
hide-and-seek sequence.

Plot holes too numerous to mention. But apart from that, worth seeing.

Well I can't really say much more than what has been said about war of
the worlds. The ending sucked, tom cruises performance was just acceptable, and did those tripods remind you of HL2?

I also saw ringu the day before yesturday, how could this be called
scary? I even gave it the chance of watching it in the dark by myself,
the remake is scarier. The (original) gudge is better imo.

I just finished watching Seven, this is a quality film, the beggining
was a bit slow of the ground (the scene crossing between morgan freeman
at the library and brad pitt was a bit boring), p.s. that ending was
mean  .

I watched a couple of tarantino's older films, namely pulp fiction and
resivour dogs, the latter I feel is slightly overated, you can tell it
is bordering between ametuer and pro, which shows as pulp fiction is
more polished with a better storyline.

Can't wait until Land of the Dead hits the cinemas.

Reminded me of the book series The Tripod Trilogy.

I had to do it for summer reading sometime around fifth grade. It
was a set in a universe quite like medieval times, but with tripods in
control and humans enslaved.

I forget the author so if anyone knows what I'm talking about, speak up.

Let me think....

"Anger Management"

Actually very good acted - But i just totally don't like the plot. It's somewhat stupid (considering the lesson in the end).

The more I liked "Pacifier". Even it wasn't very intelligent. I was absolute positively surprised how they managed to merge action with family movie. And Vin Diesel proves that he's able to adapt in a half new genre.

Most painful movie I've watched in a while. A few parts with the
King of Queens guy were funny, but the whole Will Smith love line was
so syrupy and unbearable. All the lovey dovey lines, and
diagetic music...

Altogether too much chick and not enough flick.

British horror? Doesn't work in my mind.
/because all we are good for is sappy romantic comedies, right?

Watched 'The Manchurian Candidate' remake the other night. Not bad, but kinda ties itself up in knots trying to be clever.

Watched War of the Worlds at the weekend. Really enjoyed it up to the ending; not only Cruise's son miraculously being alive, but also that the ending sequence felt very rushed to me. The initial 99% consists of aliens totally steamrollering the human race and being seemingly invulnerable - yet in the space of a few minutes the aliens had all died off and the movie had ended.

Also recently watched Independence Day (the mid-90's alien invasion movie) for the first time. I now know why I've put off watching it for about a decade: it's total garbage. Will Smith plays himself once again, wisecracking his way through the film. The US President and a hick farmer are ace jet fighter pilots and somehow succeed where the might of the World's professional armies failed. And the best is saved til last; uploading a virus to the alien computers to disable their shields...obviously the Microsoft grip on the Operating System market extends throughout the Universe too.

<DIV class=quotetext>I watched The Life Aquatic a few days ago tooooo. Very strange movie, I suppose that's what you call artistic  </DIV></DIV>
Not really. It being strange is just the surface. There are a lot of funny moments a lot of people wouldv'e missed, like when Steve Zissou is introducing the cast and he says "Juan Guarez, editor, sound man..." When he says that, line the audio is choppy and badly edited....there are a lot of other parts to the move that were funny, too...anyway....

Agreed. Spoilers herein. I wish everyone wouldv'e died. That was the cheesiest bullshit everyone being alive. If everyone died it wouldv'e been 4X's better.

I'm trying to remember this awesome part from the Life Aquatic.
For some reason I laughed myself silly. Ithink it went;

"You know I'm not good at this whole apology thing so if it's all the same, I'll skip it."

"Alright."

"I'm sorry."

I think it went something like that. God it was awesome.
But yeah, wierd movie. And I don't see why they used stop frame
animation.

Hennessey: Is this my espresso machine? Wh-what is-h-how did you get my espresso machine?

Bill (company stooge): Well... uh... we f**kin' stole it, man.
