Saw War of the worlds.
I liked it, the ending left something to be desired but you have all made good points to that.
spoiler-
I didn't like the happy ending, I mean the kid should have been
dead. If the aliens sent 2 probes, and 3 footmen into that one
house you would think that they would have picked up rob after owning
all those military dudes.
but when spealberg does a movie, you know that everything will turn out ok for the main people (like that robot kid moive A.I.)
There were also alot of plot holes, apart from the almost invunrable
Ray. Like that camera that was still working when the tri pod
popped out of the ground. Also, why did the alien lasers pop
people like zits with out hurting their cloths, yet those same lasers
could saw a building in half? Or the kung-foo grip of that army
dude in the tri-pod cage?
-/spoiler
I really like Cruse in that movie though, he didn't play the cliche
bum-who-turns-into-super-man, he was just as scared as everyone else
and you could tell he was on the verge of falling apart. That
girl did a great job too, though she screamed and freaked out a little
too much.
another spolier-
I though it was neat how they had the part with the aliens checking out
the human artifacts in the house, if it wasn't for the killing all the
humans and spraying their blood over everything I think they could have
been kinda nice.

Saw Fantastic Four. All I'll say is, if you don't like the comic book: you wont like the movie. They're virtually identical (feel, story (almost), dialog, ... editing)
Needless to say I liked it, but I also like the comic, so.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Just watched War of the Worlds. It was good. Yup, nothing to say that hasn't already been said.

i kinda agree with what dr glass said on war of the worlds. i thought it was really stupid that the cruise's son survived.
just watched Team america worldpolice - probably one of the funniest movies ive ever seen loved the singing terrorist in the terrorist bar
hotel new hampshire - 1980's controversial drama. strange but good. several family members die starting witht he dog then the gradfather then the mother and youngest son in a plane crash then the yougest daughter (8 or 9) commits suicide. a rape scene and several references and in fact scenes of incest. but altoghether a pretty good film.

Well I can't really say much more than what has been said about war of
the worlds. The ending sucked, tom cruises performance was just acceptable, and did those tripods remind you of HL2?
I also saw ringu the day before yesturday, how could this be called
scary? I even gave it the chance of watching it in the dark by myself,
the remake is scarier. The (original) gudge is better imo.
I just finished watching Seven, this is a quality film, the beggining
was a bit slow of the ground (the scene crossing between morgan freeman
at the library and brad pitt was a bit boring), p.s. that ending was
mean  .
I watched a couple of tarantino's older films, namely pulp fiction and
resivour dogs, the latter I feel is slightly overated, you can tell it
is bordering between ametuer and pro, which shows as pulp fiction is
more polished with a better storyline.
Can't wait until Land of the Dead hits the cinemas.

Reminded me of the book series The Tripod Trilogy.
I had to do it for summer reading sometime around fifth grade. It
was a set in a universe quite like medieval times, but with tripods in
control and humans enslaved.
I forget the author so if anyone knows what I'm talking about, speak up.

The only Eastwood movies that are bad are: Mystic River, Bloodwork, and that other one that I can't remember the title of. Most all his other movies are fairly good.

Let me think....
"Anger Management"
Actually very good acted - But i just totally don't like the plot. It's somewhat stupid (considering the lesson in the end).
The more I liked "Pacifier". Even it wasn't very intelligent. I was absolute positively surprised how they managed to merge action with family movie. And Vin Diesel proves that he's able to adapt in a half new genre.
/me goes to bed now
Never try to be perfect - just try it and make the best out of it

I saw Hitch tonight.
Most painful movie I've watched in a while. A few parts with the
King of Queens guy were funny, but the whole Will Smith love line was
so syrupy and unbearable. All the lovey dovey lines, and
diagetic music...
Altogether too much chick and not enough flick.

Watched War of the Worlds at the weekend. Really enjoyed it up to the ending; not only Cruise's son miraculously being alive, but also that the ending sequence felt very rushed to me. The initial 99% consists of aliens totally steamrollering the human race and being seemingly invulnerable - yet in the space of a few minutes the aliens had all died off and the movie had ended.
Also recently watched Independence Day (the mid-90's alien invasion movie) for the first time. I now know why I've put off watching it for about a decade: it's total garbage. Will Smith plays himself once again, wisecracking his way through the film. The US President and a hick farmer are ace jet fighter pilots and somehow succeed where the might of the World's professional armies failed. And the best is saved til last; uploading a virus to the alien computers to disable their shields...obviously the Microsoft grip on the Operating System market extends throughout the Universe too.

<DIV class=quotetext>I watched The Life Aquatic a few days ago tooooo. Very strange movie, I suppose that's what you call artistic  </DIV></DIV>
Not really. It being strange is just the surface. There are a lot of funny moments a lot of people wouldv'e missed, like when Steve Zissou is introducing the cast and he says "Juan Guarez, editor, sound man..." When he says that, line the audio is choppy and badly edited....there are a lot of other parts to the move that were funny, too...anyway....

I'm trying to remember this awesome part from the Life Aquatic.
For some reason I laughed myself silly. Ithink it went;
"You know I'm not good at this whole apology thing so if it's all the same, I'll skip it."
"Alright."
"I'm sorry."
I think it went something like that. God it was awesome.
But yeah, wierd movie. And I don't see why they used stop frame
animation.

I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, it was good. It was also
really weird. I also felt that Johnny Depp didn't live up to all
the hype about his performance.

Just to touch base with WOTW again (spoilers)...
...It's like the music and ambience is heart pounding....those things going around stomping asses like nobodys business and you're like AMERICA, f**k YEAH! And then....at the end you find out Dakota Fannings' brother is alive and you're like...Godammit....and then....they go to Boston and all the Grandparents and stepparents and mother is alive and you are like....oh Jesus titty-f**king Christ....and then little Dakota runs up to her mommy and hugs her to the sound of some inspirational music and you're all like someone just shoot me now please for God's sake. It is then, out of nowhere a tripod should f**king step on them ALL in one big step...just crush the s**t out of them. The camera pans out from the flattened alien food and fades to black. Eat s**t Steven Spielberg.
It was like sex without an orgasm.
Speaking of death, destruction, and sex....anyone see the movie 'Crash' from 1996? (Not the 2004 Crash, that was just in theatres, which is also good, but the one directed by David Cronenberg). It's pretty good for those who like unrated psychotic movies.

The Wickerman? One of the most cult horror movie of all time?
I haven't got round to watching the bunker yet, I've been watching a
movie called session 9, half way through it (fell asleep, teaches me
for watching a movie in bed).
Also going to be watching White Noise and Saw.

To me, when I hear british horror, I think of something like this;
Two british guys are sitting in a well decorated room, sitting in large comfy chairs next to a blazing fire.
"I say Reginald, this tea is magnificent1"
"Yes, quite."
"Let's have a packet of crisps as well, shall we?"
"Yes."
"Oh my, I forgot the crisps!"
And that violin music plays in the background the one that's classic
kinda horror with really highpitched na na na na and then a low rumble.

"Don't look now" is a British horror film and one of the best ever - the only downside being Donald Sutherland's funny accent.
"Omen" wasn't a bad film either - if you can ignore Gregory Peck's silly accent.
"The Wicker Man", as Sloth pointed out, is excellent - and features a naked Brigitte Bardot. What more do you want?
