Half-Life Cen Com 9 Storage Facility (new)

for Half-Life 0
Beta
You are Gordon Freeman, no longer a scientist, but a security guard at a storage facility in an unknown area. Your job was simple, to make sure only authorized personnel go through the teleporter that connects the facility to the experiment lab for quick deliveries. One day while at your post, your partner leaves to go make a routine check, but never comes back. Soon monsters are surrounding your post! You lock the door and hope for the best, since your partner had the only gun authorized to be in your section of the facility, and not you.
Main Map Objective:
1.Work your way to the main security station in the facility, sound the alarm and open the teleporter doors.
2.Teleport to the lab and look for survivors.
3.Head to the elevator that leads to the surface.

Half-Life: Deathmatch Medivo

Beta
Inspiration can come from anywhere. in the case of this map, it was a song that recalled a childhood memory: Jazz Jackrabbit, and the world Medivo. Medivo was this red planet, the third level of the first episode, that was like a planet going through an industrial revolution but still clinging to medieval architecture -- it's a bunch of castles made of blood-red slabs of rock that are filled with lava, flying swords, spikes, swinging balls on chains, and stainless steel pipes. The castle the game is set in is enduring a strong thunderstorm.

This map is set on my own little version of Medivo, using mostly standard textures. Like the original, it's a castle filled with lava and machinery. Unlike the original, it's 3D.

Lemme know what you think.

UPDATE 5/26:

MASSIVE redesigning. As polies began to surpass the 2,000 mark I had to delete rooms and objects.

The map is now set in some sort of monastery, with a couple of secrets and authentic gregorian chants emanating from "holy" places.

It also utilizes a nice lightning effect that creates images of the stained glass on the floor whenever lightning flashes, as shown in Pic 1.

A new de map by myself. Influenced by both Piranesi and Cbble (both under-rated maps), I plan to make a balanced map that no-one can say is unfair or biased towards one team or the other.

Basic plan is complete (I'll scan and upload it later) and I've started work on T Spawn.

This is a map I have been working on here and there for alittle bit. Im still a novice when it comes to map making and i really struggle with good lighting. The original idea for the map was a throw back to the original Halo without remaking one of their maps. I use alot of incline plains and the map is in essance semetrical. I took the jump pad idea from Halo 2 and built a small map with some interesting look and quick acces to any part of the map relatively quickly. Hope you enjoy it. All constructive criticism is welcome.

I recently added more geometry to the greater hallways (pillars) to help add cover in such vulnerable areas. All I have to do now is a little more work on the Geometry of the map. To help seperate the feeling of each sides. So the player knows where they are at at all times. Then I will work on the most dreaded part of my map making experience... the lighting. Then I will work on tactial geometry (places in the map that allow the players movement from one area to the next in a non orthadox way ussually requiring skill) and then system optimization.

Thank you everyone who helped me with the testing and the constuctive critisism.

a simple small to medium level about running through the school and destroy the invaders (terrorists). some custom textures, but most is for signs and such. 1 custom sound (when you try to enter the boys shower room) (if it works... it does on my computer). take note of what happened to the last intruders..... they are now fish food.

zip file contains all customs, just unzip and place in your cstrike folder that you play source from.

i called this one messy because it is quite small, but fun and the more people that get in, the messier it becomes. it is set mostly inside an abandoned office/warehouse/? building. there is a little outside area in it too.

2 bomb sites which are close to each other, but with tactical experience, you could easily take either one.

i know the map is suppose to be abandoned, but i didnt say for how long and at the time of making this map...... there was not too many old looking furnitures and such to choose from (sorry).

Half-Life 2: Deathmatch dm_amplitude

Phew! Finally done.
It took almost a whole year to get it finished.
In this map I reused most of the brushwork in several places to speed up the mapping. For example all the stairs pretty much look the same. I hope this doesn't appear boring. While working on the brushwork I discovered a little trick that allows one to create a 45 degrees rotated version of some given brushwork where all vertices are on the grid. Moreover it makes it very easy to combine a "45 degree version" of some brushwork with an unrotated one. I'm not sure if the trick is already known. If not, maybe Reno wants to write a small tutorial in case anyone is interested :)

Layout: I'm very satisfied with the layout of the map. It seemed very good to me and it kept me working on the map until it was finished. I tried to get some crossfire-feel to it with some sort of building (one looking a bit like a bunker). The textures also resemble a bit to crossfire. Still I think it got quite different.

Props and weapon placement: I didn't put a lot of props in it. They are rather placed like weapons (which they are). There are more props on the lower levels and fewer on the higher ones simply because there is more space to fight with them on the lower levels. Explosives are also to be found mostly on the lower levels because they are too devastating when shot from a high position (especially the RPG). The more precise guns tend to be on the higher levels (with exceptions).

Beta: Actually the map IS finished. But since I didn't put it up here on Snarkpit before, I decided to call it 99% finished and wait for some input. If anyone finds some errors I missed I can easily correct them.

Half-Life: Deathmatch Box O Cheez

Beta
Well... I decided to take a risk and reveal to the "upper-class" mapping community what I've been working on alongside Bloody Ore. After talking for a while with the <CHZ> clan leader he asked me to make a map for him. He just said he wanted a box with crossbows in it. In my mind the word "killbox" instantly appeared. I made the decision then and there to make something at least a step above killbox. I tried to make an arena.

The premise is simple: you start with just the crowbar, and have to club your way either to one of two gun turrets, or one of four towers that holds the crossbow. To keep it from being a "shooting fish in a barrel" match you start with the longjump as well. The hanging platform doubles as a DJ booth -- hitting switches turns on different loops I extracted from CNC series tracks.

I'm worried about revealing this map though, because of a few of Orph's words: "boxes with stuff inside don't do well around here". No matter how hard I try to conceal it.. that's just what this map is.

One good thing about this map I'm sure even Orph will appreciate is it got me a membership to an excellent clan -- they don't care about skill; just having fun, which is perfect for me.

At the moment the only way to get this map -- should you feel you can stomach it -- is to join the A Cheesy Place clan server when it's running the map.
