Half-Life 2: Deathmatch dm_urban_small

by Jacfu
Beta
When I started working on this last year I wanted to create a urban-themed free for all deathmatch map, but I gave up on it cause I did not know the hammer editor so well at that stage . So a week ago I started messing around with it again and I think it can work as a small/meduim sized (8 player max) map.

Half-Life: Deathmatch A Mortal Kombat Montage

by kam86
This map is a compilation of arenas in Mortal Kombat. It hasn't been play tested yet, so please leave comments after you try this map out.

Half-Life: Deathmatch Cuccoos

by Grav
A close reproduction of Kakariko Villiage from Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Considering that it was designed as a peaceful hamlet, it lends itself very well to combat. I spent a lot of time finding a weapons balance I thought was fair. The roofs are close enough to long-jump between and two of the buildings can be entered for health. The bottom of the well slowly recharges health, but one can be trapped down there temporarily if someone else drains the water by touching the windmill door. It also comes with background music, which can be turned on and off in the potion shop, either because of personal preference or to sync it up on nearby computers during LAN play. This map is good in Half-Life, but better in Op4!

Half-Life 2: Deathmatch dm_breakFree

by mabufo
I have been sitting on this map for a long while now, so I'm finally going to release it. The only thing I had left to do were small little finishing touches. I've taken care of all of that - so it's being released. Some things you should know: as with my other release, this map is based upon a single player experience. I assure you, whatever similarities to dm_lockdown you see, are purely coincidence, as the brushwork is 100% done by me. If you think otherwise, than you are a fool.

Please enjoy the map; I really enjoyed making it.

Half-Life Virtual tour - volumetric light

for Half-Life 4
Beta
This is one of a serie of example/tutorial maps I'm going to create to accompany some articles I'm writing. I'm playing a bit with the style of this type of maps now.

Right now, the player can tick buttons to get a short narratory describing a particular trick or setup. Additional buttons are provided to toggle specific options, like the display of entities and the like.

Thing's I'm thinking about is doing small camera cut-scene's after a button-press, rather than audio only.

What do you think about this kind of map? What works and what could (or should) be done different?

Half-Life The Playtest

for Half-Life 4
This map comes as a minimod since it features some voice-acting. The Playtest was created for a competition at TWHL. I had to make the map in 2 weeks, mostly during my exams, so it has some little flaws, but besides that the map plays well.

As for the competition rules, I had to make a map that featured two talking scientists. I've implemented their talking a bit different from what was suspected...

Half-Life: Deathmatch Detention

2003 map compeition entry

Half-Life: Deathmatch Detention

Detention was created for the competitions here at the Snarkpit a while ago, but since these results still aren't releases I decided to show the map of here. It's 50% inside and 50% outside a jail.

Check out my Portfolio for some screenshots of this map.

Half-Life Guidance

for Half-Life 4
Guidance was intended as an entry for a TWHL competition. Due to school, wich just started during the competition time, I haven't been able to put in all features. While the competition was all about glas, I've only put in one glass feature... but some other stuff too, wich I think can be quite interesting.

So while this map doesn't really offer an interesting gameplay, there's some effects in it that make it worth a look: volumetric light, random fire and some glass stuff.

Oh, and be aware that it's put in mod-form, so you can just extract it to your Half-Life folder. Also, run HL with 32bpp, for best appearance of the volumetric light.

Half-Life: Deathmatch bridge

by kam86
This is perhaps my best map to date. Its based on a Halo map I liked, its pretty great for 4+ people, and I think it looks pretty decent. I know the skybox is a little jenky, but I lost the original file so its too late to fix it. Enjoy!
