Well, my flight leaves in about 8 hours for my interview at Raven... eep! Like the topic says, I don't think I'm really that nervous, but it's just more the matter of realizing this is actually happening...
I've managed to keep in touch with my old friend Ken Banks through this process and will be meeting up with him later tonight as he lives very near both my hotel and the Raven office... he's going to take me in, have me sign an NDA, and then show me what he's been working on  Should be a great primer to the "real deal" tomorrow morning.
Oi. Wish me luck.

Good luck! I don't see how you need it though, surely they will just take one look at your work be instantly desperate to hire you? Be sure to ask them if you can still complete nightwatch... Raven don't allow their employees to work on mods for other games. That's what Rich Whitehouse said anyway... he went to work for Raven after working on the Jumbot and a bunch of other stuff. Hah, you might even meet him I guess

Well, they've already seen my work. Actually, they kinda came to me first thanks to some very kind words from Ken.
As far as NW, the good news is that with the wedding my availability isn't until July or so, and hopefully that will be the earliest any offer would be for. If I need to, I plan to ask if reducing myself to merely an administrative leader (i.e. just make sure it gets finished 'right') would be acceptable. But we'll see what happens.

Good luck with the interview KFS. If you've gotten this far, I'm sure your chances are pretty high. I can imagine how psyched you are...Raven would be a great place to start your career.

That's fricken cool KFS!!!
If they're looking for an entry level programmer, I'll be available in a few months...
Actually one of the level designers there went to Full Sail, not sure if he's still there though. I think he got the job at GDC. He was chatting with some of the Raven people at one of the numerous parties and showed them his levels. Well, they were among the most highly played user made maps for JKII. After graduation they hired him.

i would buy hexen 3.. hexen 2 was only so/so, but hexen 1 was superb.
i would hope andrew, that if any inside info, or editors that are safe to release, you will indulge the pitcrew first?
don't jeopardize your job, but i for one, would like 1st knowledge and such..

As long as Raven doesn't pull a Jedi Knight 2 with the Quake franchise it should be good.

Okay. Whatever you do, just remember: if you ever create a barrel or crate labelled "explosive" or "flammable", you will let down ten thousand fans if you don't actually make it explode. With a setup like that, it's GOT to be breakable. ALWAYS.

Wow, I missed this entire episode as I've been on holiday, and while it certainly comes as no suprise that you have gotten in with a top company, for that company to be Raven and that game to be Quake 4 is an absolute triumph! My biggest congratulations mate, they couldn't hope for a better mapper
