I thought it was OK - but seriously lacking in a plot. It just felt like one action sequence after another, much like Resident Evil 2 did...but then I guess that's what you get when you base a film on a computer game.
Best bit of AVP was Lance Henrikssen - he always shines, no matter how crappy the role.

AVP was rubbish in my eyes. My expectations were low enough as it is
(anything with Paul Anderson at the helm is destined to be rubbish),
but it STILL couldn't reach them. No sense of pace or atmosphere,
ridiculous
script and acting, and a "matrix shot" of a facehugger jumping out of
an egg. It sucked donkey balls. The only plus side was that the special
effects were impressive, but they don't make a crap movie good.

Just watched The Shining, the
sound is great and really makes an atmosphere and creates great
tension, although there wasn't that many killings it's still a good
movie.

Orph, did you even read what I said?
I didn't assume you compared those movies together. So maybe "text failed me again" or you just didn't read all of what I said, like usual.
Doc, AvP was exactly what it should have been ... Aliens fighting Predators. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm just wondering what's cut out, since there was an original cut (severely longer) that was cut to make it PG-13. Supposedly there's an entire subplot gone (one of which explains the damn gestation period). I can understand why people don't like Paul W Anderson movies, he isn't anything great, but he just has a knack for making fun stuff to watch. Although, I think it's not warranted to compare Hero to Resident Evil Apocalypse :\
By the way, not on this subject or directed at anyone, Lep is absolutely correct. Your personal opinion of something does not determine whether it is good or not. I can name many movies that are "good", but I hate. Would I suggest them? No, because I hate them, but I wouldn't say, "They suck" or something as such.

I find that the humour aspect of Stephen King adaptations is usually what stops them short of being really good. I didn't watch Kingdom Hospital past the second episode due to this - which was a shame as the trailers etc. for it sold the show well.

Over the last coupple of days I have been bussy watching a few films I just brought Bowling for Columbine, Way of the Gun and Requiem for a Dream from HMV for ?20 only cos they got 3 dvd's for ?20 on at the min and I got The Hunted for ?5.99 second hand from Gamestation.
I loved all of them I had many a hour enjoying them over the last 3 days. Requiem for a Dream wasnt what I was expecting and i found it a bit boring in a few places but I really enjoyed it. Same with Way of the Gun I was expecting it to be a bit funnyer than it was but I also expected that out of The Usual Suspects which was wrote by the same person but it was a bloody enjoyable film.
I don't quite know what I was expecting from The Hunted but it wasn't what I thourght it would be for some reason. I think I was expecting more of Benicio Del Toro in the forest killing people But really enjoyable and I think I may watch it again tonight if there ain't much else on.
I saw Shaun of the Dead a couple of days ago and I didnt think it was that funny I was quite disapointed in that cos I had heard that it was really funny and I didnt really laugh at it much.
Anyway Im now off to watch Peter kay Live at the Bolton Albert Halls
[EDIT]
Scratch that last bit The Rocks on

Well, 'The Bourne Supremacy' was basically a rehash of the first one - and i'm still no wiser as to what the hell was going on! Best bit was the fight with the rolled up magazine.
And Orph, did you ever catch the series 'Millenium'? Lance Henrikssen played the lead in that. It's a shame it got axed after only 3 seasons.

It got "axed" because the show no longer had a purpose being the year 2000 and all.

It's definitely worth a torrent search  And Crono, I doubt it got axed for that reason as if you watched it (and i'm not saying you didn't, just to be clear), passing the year 2000 had every bit of relevance. The series wasn't about the world ending, but how the 'millenium' affected peoples behaviour - before or after bears no relevance.

Maybe I don't remember what happened in the show then ... no wait ... I just don't care that much. Oh well. Chris Carter's work tends to lick balls.
Omega, I haven't seen it, but everyone I know loves that movie. They tend to have similiar opinions to my self, so deduce whether that means anything to you or not.

laughed twice already.. no, not any scenes with "Bend Over", ahem, i meant Ben Stiller in it. although the part where the girl vomits a little in her mouth was kinda funny, in a poke fun at Ben sorta way.
will let you know if its worth renting when its over.

Napolean Dynamite is funny sometimes, and not so funny at other times. It really doesn't have a point to it, but if you have a corky sense of humour, its really funny.

crono, if the movie is good, it is good. with or without him in it.
as i said, i already laughed.. course none of the scenes had him in it.
stop analyzing my likes and dislikes. or have you added "Amateur psychology" to your lists of known topics?
BTW "Rip Torn" is in this flick... now he is funny, and can act without help.

But, Orph, everyone here has already seen and loved Dodgeball. I'd like to see a Heat Vision and Jack movie, personally ... that'll never happen  .
I'm not analyzing your likes and dislikes. I'm just pointing stuff out that doesn't make sense. If I were analyzing them in the fashion of psychology I'd be giving conclusions and getting sued.

This might sound random, but I bought Adaptation and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind yesterday. I was looking around the used store for Being John Malcovich, since I don't have that either, I could have had an A-B-C Charlie Kaufman marathon or something. He needs a film that starts with 'D' to fill the gap between "Confessions" and "Eternal Sunshine". Maybe his and Spike Jonze' "upcoming Charlie Kaufman/Spike Jonze project" horror movie with start with a 'D'.

I loved Adaptation. The beauty in the movie for me came about 40 minutes in, when I finally realised that the movie was about the making of the movie itself (if this doesn't make sense to you, watch the movie, it will). Up until then, I found it rather boring. But, on my second time through it, I saw all of the things I missed in those 40 minutes and was so glad I stuck with it.

spaceballs was excellent fun, if only Mel brooks had not made it.
honestly, i never saw what everyone else did. Mel Brooks and Woody Alan.. even my warped sense of humor could not encompass them

John Candy and Rick Moranis though! There's no way a movie starring them, when they were both at their comedic peak, would not be superawesome.

Candy was one of my favorites, i was actually sad to hear he died. the fact that it was due to his weight only made it more sad.
anywho's, yeah cash, they define comedy.

The funniest moments in Space Balls all had Rick Moranis making a jack
ass out of himself in that Vader spoof suit. Apart from that the movie
fair blowed.
One of the best Mel Brooks movies in my opinion was Robin Hood: Men in Tights.
That movie made me piss myself no matter how many times I watched it.
Particularly the God Father spoof with Dom Deluise, you can't get much
funnier than that.

My advice: DONT WATCH TROY
Troy was the sh*ttiest movie I've seen this year. Half the time Brad was naked and showing off his ass. The other half of the time he was wearing his short skirt showing off just below his ass.
It was also super sappy, just all around not a very good movie. They tried to give Pitt some sort of Matrix jump attack thing that looked really gay.
Please, spend your money on a better movie, not Troy.

I don't think it was a bad film by any means - but I found it a difficult film to watch as I there were no clear-cut baddies or goodies. Who the hell are you supposed to root for?

personally, i liked troy. it more/less followed the concept of the theme. i have read a bit on the time period, and the movie seems close to the lore.
still, whether it was close or not, i still liked it.

No, that was always there.
I like how you put B movie in quotes. Because, that thing took so much money to make. The one thing that really impresses me about AvP is that, apparently, there were absolutely no moving set pieces ... So, like all the moving pieces (except for the thing that brought up the Alien eggs) were CG.
I just wish that one alien didn't ruin 2 knock off predators. If the predators would have taken people's spines that would have been cool too. But.. actually, technically ... AvP was a comic book movie, because of the plot they chose to go with. I really hope Fox lets him release his full cut.
I was disappointed with Troy. It's by no means a poorly made movie, quote the opposite. But, I hate it when they there are simple things they could have done (which happen in what they're adapting) and they don't do them ... SUCH AS KILL ORLANDO BLOOM. That was the one thing I looked forward to ... and it doesn't happen. My friend was like, "Are you sure he dies" and I'm like, "Dude, EVERYONE in Troy dies". And what was that s**t, Ulysses BEING at Achilles' funeral? I think he forgot it takes him ten years to get home.
By the way, I don't care if I ruined anything for anyone by talking about these movies ... you shouldn't either.
