Hello.
First of all - the story: I played Counter-Strike together with Gwil some days ago. After some rounds we showed a good performance and I renamed myself to ding@#snarkpit (to point on the #snarkpit IRC channel) because I wanted to do some advertisment for this great community here. So I had the idea of founding a Snarkpit Counter-Strike squad. (Well - why only CS - we could set up several squads for different games like CS/TS/DoD points on Siron)
Well it is not really a clan - I should be just a team which is playing some clanwars under the flag of snarkpit.com
What do you think?
(My clan owns a TeamSpeak server, btw - so I think this could be the voice-communication platform during a clanwar)

i would do it, but i dont think my clan would like me sporting 2 tags, even if its not a clan.

Looks like it's time to drag out the ol' IRC beast once more. What server is #snarkpit on?

quakenet.
Yeh Ding, I'm in. I would feel most for a TFC team, but I don't think
there are many TFC players around, so a DoD / CS squad is fine by me.
As long as it stays "for fun", because I don't have any time for
pro-gaming.

Cool - good to hear - well it should be a "just for fun" squad - no specific times for training or something like this.

I'd be in for some DoD.
How exactly do you want to setup the tags? I vote for "Playername Von Snarkpit" or "[Snarkpit]-Playername"

yeehaa - this will get cool.
hm clantag should be something like: (open for suggestions)
#snarkpit | name
Team Snarkpit | name
Snarkpit | name
name@snarkpit
<edit> Each squad could set up a own clantag - so for DoD it would be cool "name von #snarkpit" like Tracer suggested. </edit>

the problem is that Steam will set the
#snarkpit | name
to
*snarkpit | name
actually I don't know why steam that does...
well i think that every squad (DoD/CS/TFC - whatever) should decided what to use - i think this would be a good solution.

A snarkpit team sounds interesting. The two problems for me are, first,
I suck at probably every mod and game, and secondly, I'm still using
dial-up. Hopefully I'll get a better connection soon. So maybe I could
join then for some fun. What about NS?

If I could play HL without 3000 ping lag spikes I'd happily kill each and every one of you in any mod.

I havent played CS online in forever. I used to play with bots... the SWAT bot because I find they are the most human like. I think.
but for the last few months I havent played a single game, multiplayer or single player.. Kinda lost my mapping interest too
Once I get money from my new job Im investing in a 802.11g router so I can get internet on my comp via wireless. Once thats done, I'll be up for CS all the time.
I used to be quite the sniper in my day lol.

Why choose a mod ?
We will not have anough players for divisions, so we could just hang
around on IRC and find some friendly wars ... whatever the mod may be,
you know.

I'd be up for it. In a couple of weeks I should be getting broadband  , so I'll be looking to make up for lost online play time. In particular I'd be up for DOD and CS.
A Snarkpit team server on Steam would also allow for the playing of custom maps made by members of the site, which would be pretty sweet, especially when only the better maps get put on server rotations.

yeah - that would be cool - A server with custom map rotation. Well we have to ask Leperous what's up with that Oktagone hosting - So I still hope that Oktagone will support us (well Snarkpit.com is hosted there, right? so maybe they'll do it.)
btw - we could do advertisment for them in the clantag  "Snarkpit.oktgn | name" would be teh pro-gaming style

ok I have a new idea - there will be a major problem:
Europe and USA = high ping.
what about split up the clan into USA/Canada and Europe when we are playing clanwars because it is not fine to play with a ping 250+.

make a list of who's in and who's not first, ding ... and about the
pings ... it depends on the server .. I've played against American
dudes on a Swedish (!) server, and we all had like 50/60 ping.

hm ok @ oktagone.
But, Gwil - what is your final opinion to this project here? (well you are one of the snarkpit-moderators and I want to get an opinion from the "headquarters")
<edit>
That's right @ Pings, Force - best example is Gwil - he has a better ping on german servers than me...

I think its a good idea, especially coupled with a few more plans that
I may, or may not have up my sleeve relating to a Snarkpit server in
the not so distant future..
Best to keep it as a loose, unofficial thing for now though - just trying to get people into IRC for server invasions etc...

I hope that many people will join the #snarkpit channel (btw - snarkpit has arround 630 registered users - it would be nice to have at least 10% of them in IRC) if we play clanwars and I think we are too cool too lose that wars

Now we would just all need to get together and play on the same team versus some people who think are the best and kick their asses.
Of course some mics would help, and me getting a internet connection on my computer would really help too... And a new CS CD since steam doesnt like mine..

Oh come on mate, it must be about ?5-10 to pick up a basic HL copy these days, thats no excuse
I'm not a huge gamer at the moment, but I'll use whatever team name
prefix or whatever whenever I play around in servers, and will join you
when I feel like some gaming. I normally play DoD, CS or HLDM, though
I'm not wonderful at any of them. I'm probably best at HLDM, but that
doesn't seem to be a game many folk here play.

I think you are being a tad hopeful with that estimate - we still
haven't had the gone gold announcement so its going to be at LEAST at
the upper end of that range.
