I play Twinsens Odyssey. AKA Lttle Big Adventure 2 (LBA2).

Nice ole game; simply done. And I'm currently reaching higher "levels" as I have done before. The game is more and more fun. Sometimes stupid, I admit... But it's 10 years old...so I gladly take it.

I've been very tempted to play the Hitman games again. The Legacy of Kain games too (Are they done, or what?)

Frenchy, don't burn yourself out like I did with the BF2 demo. By
the time the full game came in the mail I was sick of it...

Today I got Lumines for my PSP - fun fun fun  For those who haven't
heard of it, its a stylish puzzle game in the same vein as Tetris or
Columns. Very addictive, very engrossing, and very intense. Like most
of the creator's games (eg. Rez) it uses music perfectly, with music
that changes based on your performance, and beats and samples that are
triggered by in game actions. I kinda suck at puzzle games but I'd
heard only good things about this game, so decided to give it a shot.
I'm very glad that I did - highly recommended.

that console thread got me to thinking about some of the classics

such as:

Secret of Mana-SNES

all the Zeldas, but especially Ocarina of Time-N64

Super Smash Bros-N64

You know, I played Smash Brothers on the 64 again recently ... and I've gotta say ... Melee is leaps and bounds. They're both fun, but Melee is just so much better.

You want to play a really good SNES RPG? I strongly suggest Chrono Trigger (OR If you're lucky, the first Star Ocean)

I've got both Chrono Trigger and a Star Ocean on my PSP's snes
emulator, but haven't really been tempted to play either yet. For now
there are only two emulator games I've been playing at all - Clock
Tower, and Front Mission - both games I've meant to play for years and
years as I enjoy both series, but never got around to doing. I'm amazed
that Clock Tower is scary with such poor graphics but it seems to
manage, and Front Mission was never really a concern as the gameplay
only really demands an isometric map which is perfectly possible in a
snes game

I know what you mean about games not feeling the same on emulators,
which is exactly why I've avoided playing lots of snes/megadrive games
I would have liked to have. Sitting at my PC just isn't my ideal gaming
situation, with the exception of a few genres that suit it.

For some reason though, playing them on another console kinda brings
back the appeal to me. Therefore the PSP is great for letting me play
snes games I'd have liked to have played, without losing the magic by
playing it on a PC. Its somewhat inexplicable, but its the truth

Kind of a basic/simple freeware RPG tactics game. Surprisingly well
designed though, it can get pretty difficult at times (most battles are
heavily stacked against you) but it's definitely beatable. A fun
diversion for an hour or so.

Isn't there a thread where people are going apes**t over the Age of Empires 3 demo?

I played Art of War recently and thought it was pretty cool. I like how there's a little deviation from the standard RTS (Air Strikes, for example)

I never really play anything but FPS on computer. We were always too poor to get a console of any kind and Dad was always saying "You kids don't need that! It's just one more thing to leave laying around the house!" He was a neat freak and thought that kids ought not leave toys out of the closet overnight. Anyway, the first time i ever owned an original nintendo was last year, and my damn brother stoled it! I never liked starcraft or any of that stuff, cause by the time I got used to FPS, anything else was hard for me to use and I didn't enjoy it.

I don't go aps**t over AOE3. I ain't played it yet.

I recently played Star Fox Assault at Target. I was bored.

But, I was REALLY turned off by Star Fox Adventures. I'm sure I'd have to play that more, but when I played it, I just didn't like it. It felt like just another ratchet game ... but not as good. (Yes, Finger, your company has some of the best action/adventure/platformers I've ever played, happy?)

However, I picked up Assault, very sceptical and was VERY happy once I started playing it. It's fantastic. It's basically like the SNES Star Fox, but it looks wonderful. It also has some more intuitive controls with rolling being, now, useful for dodging enemy fire. I remember playing the 64 version too, and I remember not liking it either (all those years ago). But, I'm placing this up there with the original (in all actuality it's way better, Star Fox SNES, now, is terrible. But, it has good memories ... just like Stunt Racer)

I'd suggest checking it out if you've got "The Cube". (Check out Jungle Beat as well. Haven't had that much fun playing a game in a long time. It's actually fun and not frustrating. It only gets harder though  )

Finally got around to picking up Forza Motorsport for the Xbox, and as
expected, its great. Its one of those games with which you know what
you are getting - a well made, solid, and fun racing sim. Its pretty
hard to be amazed by such a game if you have already played similar
ones (eg. the Gran Turismo series), but Forza really is very worth
owning if you enjoy driving games and have an Xbox.

The most exceptional thing about Forza is the car visual customisation.
The amount of versatility and control offered by the car decal editor
is really quite mindblowing, and if you put your mind to it you could
really create just about anything. So far I've spent almost as much
time tinkering with my cars' appearance as I have actually racing them
 You can stack up to 108 layers of decals on each section of the car,
move them around, scale, rotate, tilt and colour them all to your
heart's content. Impressive stuff to say the least.

On xbox ofcourse, Burnout4 iz za bezt XD

There are plenty of new cars to unlock, your opponents are smart and
kind of harder to kick them off the road, the bloom effect is really
nice, the maps you can drive in are really huge with more than 5
different routes in each map to win the race, just amazing, well, i
wanna go play it now  check gamespot for trailers and stuff if your
not planning to buy it

Acquired a copy of "Deer hunter 5"

For my part, I have never played 1-4 so 5 held no expectations to live up to. In that I also had no real disappointments. Its stupid and can only imagine how bad 1 through 4 was.

Deer hunter 5, blows.

Recently bought Codename: Panzers.

It's a nice RTS game with good-looking environments and detailed units,
and it plays away nicely. There's some things not-so-good about it,
mainly the cutscenes that look horribly static and fake, and the
voice-acting isn't great either. The game fails at the story-telling as
it isn't really very immersive. Maybe I shouldn't expect that from
another WWII RTS, but hey... this could've been done better.

So, to conclude, a nice playing game and that's it.

SSX3 came out roughly 2 years ago. I rented it a few times and loved it, but never ended up buying it.

I found pretty cheap online a couple days ago and now I'm replaying
it. It's definitely the best snowboarding game I've ever played
(you guys remember 1080 snowboarding for N64? This beats the pants off
that).

The over the top style, the speed, the beauty of it all!

Definitely worth your money... its a staple PS2 game.

AtM, you seen SSX On Tour at all? I'm tempted to grab the PSP version

by it. Don't think it could rob Amped 2 of the "best snowboarding game"
for me, but it seemed impressive nonetheless.

Shut up, that game rocks your face.

I skewed the facts, by the way ... all I had to pay was $4 ... the total was actually about $32, I had a store credit for like $28 or something. (That place, by the way, gives REALLY nice trade value of VHS, I took in a box and got like $45 trade)

Since then, I've picked up some games now and then when I get a chance and have some cash.

I've picked up:

($15 - NEW) Ring of Red
($15 - USED)Phantom Brave (GET THIS GAME NOW ... If you can find it, that is. It's a tactics game without grids and stuff. Fun.)
($10 - NEW) Street Fighter 15 Year Anniversary Edition
($10 - USED)Galerians: Ash (I liked the first)
($10 - USED)Dot Hack: Infection (Always wanted to play it)

Now, I just need time to play them all. Got Black and White 2 several days ago. My main computer wont stay on long enough and I have no time for games ... Oh winter break: I long for you.

My flatmate is totally into the whole Nippon Ichi series of TBS games -
Disgaea, La Pucelle Tactics, Phantom Brave, and the upcoming Phantom
(or Makai) Kingdom. I played Disgaea and enjoyed it, but the
differences between them all don't look so pronounced that I'm
particularly tempted by them. They are all kicking about the flat if
the mood takes me though

I got Ring of Red some time ago, its a pretty unique game. Very strange
combat system, but it is far more tense than most other TBS games. I
really ought to play that again some time, only ended up putting a
couple of hours into it.

EDIT: Psychonauts seems to have been pushed back another month - end of
November. Yet another example of the EU getting shafted for games crono

Turn-Based-RPG
Active-RPG
Action-RPG
Tactical-RPG

So on and so fourth.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

BF2!!!1! Man, I love that game. I logged in after the 1.03
upgrade, and got 3 weapon unlocks after they changed the lvel
requirements

So I've got the Spec Ops, Assault, Medic and Support upgraded guns.

w00tzizzle.
Whats this, they've actually changed the level requirements to
something resembling reason? I haven't played it in a few weeks on
account of DOD:Source and final session of uni. I'm at about 4000
points now, so hopefully I'll get an unlock or two.

Yeh they've lowered the points you need to rank up I just think they have lowered them a bit too much for the lower ranks and not enough for the higher ones.

Apart from BF2 I havent played any other games much just Guild Wars really and I only got that last Friday after I replaced my 6200 that I brought on Thursday.

I havent played any HL2 in a while and now that I fancy a game or two I carnt cos of the weard bug with the last update that keeps restarting my pc and its only since I put in the 6200. All the fixes that valve have on the support bit I have tryed and it still dont work.

I wish you could get planes in singleplayer, at least that way you could practice.
If you really want to learn, you can do what I did to get the hang of
not crashing. Just start a LAN game on a 64 player map and try
different maneuvers. Do stuff like drive a tank into the middle
of a field, and try an bomb it or something.

Or alternatively, download a mod that allows you to use the 32 player maps on singleplayer.

Just played some Quake 4. Was quite good, makes me feel ill though, just like when playing Doom 3, Farcry and HL2.

I bought FEAR last night, and played for a few hours. I'm really digging it.

The environments are nice enough, if not a big generic. They win in the 'atmosphere' dept for the most part, being very creepy and all.

The creepy horror element in the game is the best I've seen, and is obviously inspired by Japanese horror films. It works - the game is spooky.

The combat is pretty fun, even though there isn't much variety in who you fight (sofar at least). The A.I. seems fairly intelligent. They navigate complex environments well, don't get stuck or do stupid s**t, don't stand there looking dumb.

The bullet-time effect (although nothing new) feels fresh in this FPS environment. It's fun to turn on Slow-mo and try to headshot all the enemies with dual pistols.

I would definately grab this for you FPS collection. Especially if you like the horror element. This was the kind of scary that Doom3 should have been.

Next stop... Quake 4.

I don't like horror films, so I probably will skip FEAR. The graphics look nice though.

Ok, next stop isn't Quake4...instead I'll give you the scoop on Indigo Prophecy.

This game is a sleeper hit. The closest I've seen to a 'cinematic' experience. It's like playing a game of Clue, or reading a choose-your-own-mystery book, but wrapped in the context of a game. In order to progress, the game asks you to perform simple tasks, and choose the direction of the story.

As the story marches forward, you get to play the part of a few main characters. It's sort of a 'who done it', thriller, occult theme....where you play both sides of the story, trying to unfold the mystery.

My favorite part of the game is the pacing. This isn't like an RPG, where you have to talk to 50 different characters, each one having a dialogue tree 20 pages long. In this game, you do interact with people, but they put you on a timer. You might have 4 ways in which the conversation can go, but you have to pick one before the timer runs out. If you don't pick, the game chooses a default path. Once you've picked a conversation branch, you generally can't go back. This keeps things moving forward, and forces you to think fast.

The game mechanics are fairly intuitive, satisfying, and do a good job of connecting you to the actions that your characters are going through. Sometimes, you are running around looking for clues to the mystery, sometimes you are performing a sort of mini-game that involves your character doing all sorts of stuff (dodging things, boxing, climbing..etc). How well you perfom can either have major or minor reprocussions. If you fail to dodge a flying refrigerator, the game will end. If you fail a game involving your 'intuition', you won't get as many clues as you might have otherwise - making the next sequence a bit more challenging.

I would suggest picking the game up on Playstation 2, if you have a choice. For some reason, it seems to feel best with the playstation controller.

This is one of those games that manages to create a fresh and unique game experience - one that does an interesting job of fusing movies, and games.

Try it!!
