I play Twinsens Odyssey. AKA Lttle Big Adventure 2 (LBA2).
Nice ole game; simply done. And I'm currently reaching higher "levels" as I have done before. The game is more and more fun. Sometimes stupid, I admit... But it's 10 years old...so I gladly take it.

I've been very tempted to play the Hitman games again. The Legacy of Kain games too (Are they done, or what?)

Frenchy, don't burn yourself out like I did with the BF2 demo. By
the time the full game came in the mail I was sick of it...

that console thread got me to thinking about some of the classics
such as:
Secret of Mana-SNES
all the Zeldas, but especially Ocarina of Time-N64
Super Smash Bros-N64

You know, I played Smash Brothers on the 64 again recently ... and I've gotta say ... Melee is leaps and bounds. They're both fun, but Melee is just so much better.
You want to play a really good SNES RPG? I strongly suggest Chrono Trigger (OR If you're lucky, the first Star Ocean)

You just cant beat smash bros or a good old round of huge fists and
cheesy sound effects. It is like i am in Nerdvana when i am throwing
fox off a cloud, while in slowmo.

I know this will sound bizarre, but, I found Chrono Trigger just loses something if played on an emulator ... I have no idea what. Maybe it's just because I know it's not being played on the SNES. It was the first RPG I played, so, most dear to my heart! (I was only 11 or 12, after all)
I have it on PSX and I hate it. That version was ruined by the cut scenes.
I've been really disappointed by turn based RPGs lately. There needs to be a nice classic style RPG ... now.
Marth is mine. Fire Emblem rocks your face!

Isn't there a thread where people are going apes**t over the Age of Empires 3 demo?
I played Art of War recently and thought it was pretty cool. I like how there's a little deviation from the standard RTS (Air Strikes, for example)

I recently played Star Fox Assault at Target. I was bored.
But, I was REALLY turned off by Star Fox Adventures. I'm sure I'd have to play that more, but when I played it, I just didn't like it. It felt like just another ratchet game ... but not as good. (Yes, Finger, your company has some of the best action/adventure/platformers I've ever played, happy?)
However, I picked up Assault, very sceptical and was VERY happy once I started playing it. It's fantastic. It's basically like the SNES Star Fox, but it looks wonderful. It also has some more intuitive controls with rolling being, now, useful for dodging enemy fire. I remember playing the 64 version too, and I remember not liking it either (all those years ago). But, I'm placing this up there with the original (in all actuality it's way better, Star Fox SNES, now, is terrible. But, it has good memories ... just like Stunt Racer)
I'd suggest checking it out if you've got "The Cube". (Check out Jungle Beat as well. Haven't had that much fun playing a game in a long time. It's actually fun and not frustrating. It only gets harder though  )
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

I have to agree Burnout Revenge is good, kinda better in most ways to Burnout 3. And of course, has to be owned/obtained on Xbox- PS2 ran its limit donkeys years ago!

Acquired a copy of "Deer hunter 5"
For my part, I have never played 1-4 so 5 held no expectations to live up to. In that I also had no real disappointments. Its stupid and can only imagine how bad 1 through 4 was.
Deer hunter 5, blows.

SSX3 came out roughly 2 years ago. I rented it a few times and loved it, but never ended up buying it.
I found pretty cheap online a couple days ago and now I'm replaying
it. It's definitely the best snowboarding game I've ever played
(you guys remember 1080 snowboarding for N64? This beats the pants off
that).
The over the top style, the speed, the beauty of it all!
Definitely worth your money... its a staple PS2 game.

Shut up, that game rocks your face.
I skewed the facts, by the way ... all I had to pay was $4 ... the total was actually about $32, I had a store credit for like $28 or something. (That place, by the way, gives REALLY nice trade value of VHS, I took in a box and got like $45 trade)
Since then, I've picked up some games now and then when I get a chance and have some cash.
I've picked up:
($15 - NEW) Ring of Red
($15 - USED)Phantom Brave (GET THIS GAME NOW ... If you can find it, that is. It's a tactics game without grids and stuff. Fun.)
($10 - NEW) Street Fighter 15 Year Anniversary Edition
($10 - USED)Galerians: Ash (I liked the first)
($10 - USED)Dot Hack: Infection (Always wanted to play it)
Now, I just need time to play them all. Got Black and White 2 several days ago. My main computer wont stay on long enough and I have no time for games ... Oh winter break: I long for you.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Frenchy, when I was playing not many servers allowed the weapon
unlockables in multiplayer, so unlockables were pretty much
pointless. Has that changed?

Indeed. I have yet to play on such a server...
I wish that I could get the unlocks on Singleplayer. I think it's pretty lame that you can't.

Yeah, Fire Emblem is turn based, but not an RPG. It's actually a tactics game.
They all are that way. I want the new GC version. It looks totally badass.

Zelda isn't an RPG.
I'll allow you to call it an Action-RPG ... maybe ... but it in no way is an RPG ... at all actuallity. How is Zelda any different than recent Mario games in dynamics?

There used to be actual distinctions, I miss those.
Turn-Based-RPG
Active-RPG
Action-RPG
Tactical-RPG
So on and so fourth.

I bought FEAR last night, and played for a few hours. I'm really digging it.
The environments are nice enough, if not a big generic. They win in the 'atmosphere' dept for the most part, being very creepy and all.
The creepy horror element in the game is the best I've seen, and is obviously inspired by Japanese horror films. It works - the game is spooky.
The combat is pretty fun, even though there isn't much variety in who you fight (sofar at least). The A.I. seems fairly intelligent. They navigate complex environments well, don't get stuck or do stupid s**t, don't stand there looking dumb.
The bullet-time effect (although nothing new) feels fresh in this FPS environment. It's fun to turn on Slow-mo and try to headshot all the enemies with dual pistols.
I would definately grab this for you FPS collection. Especially if you like the horror element. This was the kind of scary that Doom3 should have been.
Next stop... Quake 4.

I don't like horror films, so I probably will skip FEAR. The graphics look nice though.

Ok, next stop isn't Quake4...instead I'll give you the scoop on Indigo Prophecy.
This game is a sleeper hit. The closest I've seen to a 'cinematic' experience. It's like playing a game of Clue, or reading a choose-your-own-mystery book, but wrapped in the context of a game. In order to progress, the game asks you to perform simple tasks, and choose the direction of the story.
As the story marches forward, you get to play the part of a few main characters. It's sort of a 'who done it', thriller, occult theme....where you play both sides of the story, trying to unfold the mystery.
My favorite part of the game is the pacing. This isn't like an RPG, where you have to talk to 50 different characters, each one having a dialogue tree 20 pages long. In this game, you do interact with people, but they put you on a timer. You might have 4 ways in which the conversation can go, but you have to pick one before the timer runs out. If you don't pick, the game chooses a default path. Once you've picked a conversation branch, you generally can't go back. This keeps things moving forward, and forces you to think fast.
The game mechanics are fairly intuitive, satisfying, and do a good job of connecting you to the actions that your characters are going through. Sometimes, you are running around looking for clues to the mystery, sometimes you are performing a sort of mini-game that involves your character doing all sorts of stuff (dodging things, boxing, climbing..etc). How well you perfom can either have major or minor reprocussions. If you fail to dodge a flying refrigerator, the game will end. If you fail a game involving your 'intuition', you won't get as many clues as you might have otherwise - making the next sequence a bit more challenging.
I would suggest picking the game up on Playstation 2, if you have a choice. For some reason, it seems to feel best with the playstation controller.
This is one of those games that manages to create a fresh and unique game experience - one that does an interesting job of fusing movies, and games.
Try it!!
