I don't know if this qualifies as girl music or what, but I've been
listening to Pete Yorn's CD "Day I Forgot" for the past 24 hours almost
constantly. I started listening to it last night around 11
PM. I listened to it off and on as I tried to finish off a final
paper before going to bed at 5 AM. Then I woke up and had to run
errands around campus and I was listening to it on my iPod.
Anyway -- I really like this album, and I was surprised since my sister
turned me on to him and I never expected to like it. It's late
night, somewhat sad, stewing music. It'll make you long for an
ex-girlfriend, or help you relish a blue mood. It's not
appropriate for all times, but when you're up late writing a paper and
feeling sorry for yourself, its the perfect soundtrack.
If you want to check out a few songs, I would recommend:
I almost forgot, the music is acousticy with some drums and a backup
electric guitar. There's something about the melodies and the
inflection in his voice that really evokes emotion. I feel like
I'm walking around in a little movie when I have the music playing in
my headphones.
