If this hasn't been asked, would it be possible to have a sort of
"subscibe to this thread" type thing, where you get pm'ed/emailed
whenever someone makes another post in the thread.

It's on my to-do list, along with a "sticky post" that acts like sticky topics (so people can display important info in topics such as this!).

We need to have an enforced map reviewing etiquette so s**t like this doesn't happen.

http://www.snarkpit.com/maps.php?map=1523 Read the comments. I don't fully side with either Yak or Denegatron, but we simply can't have discussions turning instantly sour because of that.

No, what we need is for Lep to fix the ability to edit reviews so that I can correct that stupid review.

Any chance of removing the 'f**k' word filter or having it ignore urls
please? My pit stopped working after I changed name and I didn't want
to bother you, but now my new hosting has 'f**k' in the url.

Thread creators in the Maps fourm should be allowed to close old
chapters to help maintain the flow of the discussion and help prevent
confusion.

I've noticed a hell of a lot of birthday threads. It might be nice if the pit had a little calander in the people section and a DOB field in members details, an maybe automatically announce them on the front page. Just a thought. :smile:

personally, i think we should have a sticky thread in "general"

one kept 100% true, one monitored by the admin to ensure it stays so.

the sticky topic would be "famous last words posted by new members"

IE

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 width="80%">
<TBODY>
<TR>
<TD colSpan=2>Degenatron on 20th Jan 2005</TD>
<TR>
<TD></TD>
<TD class=abouttext>- Reviewing a map entails PLAYING a map</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 width="80%">
<TBODY>
<TR>
<TD colSpan=2>SparkyX on 26th Jan 2005</TD>
<TR>
<TD></TD>
<TD class=abouttext>Actually, I'm beginning to hate Snarkpit</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

and my all time favorite

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 width="80%">
<TBODY>
<TR>
<TD colSpan=2>Degenatron on 23rd Jan 2005</TD>
<TR>
<TD></TD>
<TD class=abouttext>Wrong.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

i think a sticky thread of this type would quickly become the #1 post quantity. :lol:

i read most of that... scene. i am betting that more time was actually invested in the replies, than went into either the review or the map. :rolleyes:

Small addition, added the number of people who are watching your map (next to the views on the profile page). When I make a proper watching page in the CP I'll make a list of who's watching.

I'm not sure, but I think they may have been removed as the number of people looking at your map isn't really relevant to the bugs and suggestions thread

Sometimes theyll have an extra empty line at the bottom that you cant delete... Apart from that, I just dont like the interface, its rather cumbersome. Reminiscent of putting graphics/objects into MS Word in fact...

this "auto notification" feature is coolness, but i have a request.

is there a way to inform us where it originated from? although i have no issues with it in practice, i want to know for certain that i crossed a line or am just being unduly censored.

wrong is one thing, censorship is unforgivable.

the problem is, i can never locate where the auto message came from :sad:

i heard someone suggesting a 'last seen' catagory in the memberlist. it sounds like a good idea in general, even though the discussion was only really about keeping a closer watch on mephs' movements. :wink:

I can't to set internet explorer show screenshot of my prefarb. It shows "unloaded image" icon, but to see that screenshot, you must to press that "unloaded" icon. That's mean hiperlinks are good, and they are working. But some thing is wrong with that. I think I've done every thing all right and it should to work...

Prefarb: Half-Life/airplanes/Black Hawk UH-60

This is modyfication of prefarb made by Kevin Quang (megalixer@hotmail.com). A U.S. Army UH-60 Black Hawk transport helicopter for use in an airbase map or for those repelling marines seen in the game. Its not an exact replica beacause I wanted to keep the face count down but it is very close. There are two machineguns in b.h. The main rotor and tail rotor uses a func_rotate but can be removed if desired. There is also an ambient_generic on the rotor with an apache like sound. I left it pretty much green but thats how the real Blackhawk looks so it works fine but add any decals to your liking.

That may be because of the Timezones? OKtagone's new servers are in
australia, where it probably was 18th feb when the update happened.

I suspect that Snarkpit is faster because there are about 1/3 the users online at any given time.

Under the stats area:

Highest rated: KungFuSquirrel with 4.8 (rated by 48 people)

Nicest user: Fortune2 (has rated 60 people 5/5)

Bitter as a lemon: Rumple (has rated 17 people 1/5)

Everyone knows him: Orpheus (81 ratings)

There is all this, but how about a new category for the "smart user"?
It would pertain to who has solved the most editing questions.

<DIV class=quotetext>Under the stats area:
Highest rated: KungFuSquirrel with 4.8 (rated by 48 people)
Nicest user: Fortune2 (has rated 60 people 5/5)
Bitter as a lemon: Rumple (has rated 17 people 1/5)
Everyone knows him: Orpheus (81 ratings)

There is all this, but how about a new category for the "smart user"? It would pertain to who has solved the most editing questions.
</DIV></DIV>
Maybe that should be "must helpful user"...

I think you meant "most", maybe even "mapping guru"

Yes. Most. That would be it.

Most helpful? that would encompass all aspects of editing, including detailed critiques.. how exactly would a program be able to differentiate between solving editing questions and the rest of the steps involved in being "MOST" helpful??

"Most Helpful Editing Question Solver"? (I dunno :sad: it was just a
suggestion, we all know gollum will get this anyways) If not
incorporate in the number of tutorials/ratings of the tutorials as well.

the server has just had an upgrade (Dual Xeon 2.8Ghz server with 160GB SATA)
I don't undersatnd. If Oktagone couldn't even pay its bills on
time, how can it afford to get a server upgrade? Did he just
borrow huge sums of money that he can never dream of repaying and use
the upgrade as a last-ditch gimmick to retain its customers?

Lep, do you know what's going on? I am afraid that if SnarkPit
stays with Oktagone for too long, then the two-week disaster will
repeat itself. Expect that this time it'll be permanent.

I think Oktagone is just living on borrowed times. Like I said, it's Enron on a smaller scale.

"Most Questions Solved" would be quite descriptive and less controversial... And besides, it's just a label.
