These forums seem to be dying, lack of posters and such. I'm just curious as to why.

OTHER: After our mishap with the loss of .com, I think our active posters population was almost cut in half.

Since then, due to a lack of people, it sort of snowballed into more
and more people losing interest, due to a lack of interest (get what
I'm saying?)

I'm home all day and I post whenever I can to stuff that's relevent to my interests. I want a job though...

Same as Forceflow I've got a job during a few weeks now.

I post when the topic interests me and when I feel like I can add
something to it. I have my posting periods, sometimes I post more
frequently and sometimes not as often.

Ah damn i'm the only traitor :/

Well I go to other forums cause this one has hardly any action. I mainly come to see the maps which are also dying

Places like iwannamap and ozone11 which are simple have many visitors

TWHL is my all time favourite because they always argue

I have noticed that the forums are quiet but mainly because people are
away on hollidays or haven't the time to sit down and slowly read away.

I would normally be at school but my exams are over and we get an early break.

I often find myself typing whole posts and then clicking away the tab,
simply because I think it's just not making sense to post what I
intended. I don't really know why, I have it on the VERC forums as well.

Just weird.

I feel as though the SnarkPit needs something new to bring in new people, we are just losing the old regulars, but aren't making new ones as fast.

Well, I'm not going anywhere  I agree it has been somewhat quiet as
of late (though credit where credit is due - people like Satch and
Moneyshot seem to be trying to keep up a relatively frequent stream of
new threads), but I think its fairly common for us to have a lul during
the summer period. Nice weather, summer jobs, holidays, etc... all
combine to steal away people's computer time. I haven't been on mine
much at all as of late, or at least it feels that way. Hopefully it
will pick up again from around August time, as the summer drops away. I
don't really see what could pull in more punters, though perhaps more
tutorials (they seem to have dropped off lately) would be a good start.
Perhaps post-contest we will see more visitors looking for levels too.

My goal is to hit 10,000 posts and fade away....

For some that will be a day of celebration perhaps, but who really cares what they think?

As it stands right this moment. There are more people missing than here whom I visit this site to see... I miss the Snarkpit of 2 years ago... Fights and all.

Snarkpit was more interesting before we all fell into our complacency.. :/

I don't have HL2 and I have no interest left in HL1. I'm a rare case though.

I think the main problem is that we have too few experienced people
left who are actively working with HL2. I remember a couple of years
ago there used to be a new "hawt-and-seksee" map almost every other
week from someone or other on the map forums. Not too much of that
anymore though. Maybe it'll take a year or so for the community to
mature a bit, but right now I don't see a whole lot of exceptional work
being done. Not many mods work over here, etc.

and i don't care about if there are not much new posts going. If i have
a doubt of anything, about mapping hl2 (thats what i am interested) , i
always enter here and search for it.

Oh, and my holydays begin next week so i will have more time to waste
coming here even if i have to look the same posts or the same
tutorials. :S

I've been working on the ship "Sheldon" in the Eternal Silence mod. A new job. A few family emergencies. And?school above all.

Myrk- I think it hasn't been an absence of posters, but rather everything is in the general board about houses burning down, or getting married, or about what new program to use because it "r00x0rs". The snarkpit I'm afraid has drifted from being a mapping site to a general site about anything. These are just my observations. So don't get pissed at me.

i'm still here with my unintelligable offerings, but any actual content creation has been at a standstill for a while. i started digging a small fish pond in a mates garden a couple of months ago, but i went mad and ended up landscaping all around it too. it was pretty hard without the displacement tool, but it's turned out as a nice place to enjoy the little bit of good weather we're getting.

I just came back from San Francisco, where we had our second wedding
banquet for my wife's family this weekend. I am just exhausted,
and I can barely keep my eyes open at the moment.

Yeah, overall, work and the wedding took most of my times. I'll

Well, uhm... I have never been active on this forum but i have followed
it somewhat in about a year. I have aswell noticed the absence of
people lately and

I can only think of one reason, Half-life2 which i think marks a new "era" for the half-life community.

There are alot of new guys learning Hammer v4, and alot of old ones leaving.

Perhaps snarkpit isnt attractive enough compared to other new fresh mappingsites or its just because its summer. Who knows?

Yeah a new skin would help out a bit.

Byt to be honest, i think the whole site needs to me changed.

Ive always thought of snarkpit as some kind of to rapidly mutating germ.

It seemed to have a good backbone a long time ago and then the admin
added lots of new features and somewhere along the way he forgot about
the new users.

I still have problems with finding the stuff i am looking for from time to time.

But that doesnt make this site a bad site. It has some really great
features that has inspired me and my colleagues at www.leveldesign.nu
in our quest to bring the site back to life again.
