congrats. 2 mature, neutral, active and helpful guys + dedicated imo
ps: sorry for bringing this up, but what was the deal with orph first getting adminship and then losing it? or was it temporary, for the contest? i dunno who to ask this to, and i'm just wondering. (seems to be the cause for his absence too)

he only wanted to be admin so that he could manage the comp. he said that if the comp was a failure, he'd leave, and never come back. it seems he thinks the comp was a failure.

that could be the case, but that's not what his profile says. also, he was un-made admin before he left, so maybe someone else thought the contest was a failure. also, while in many regards it could be classified as a failure, certainly that had nothing to do with orph, imo he did it in the best way possible.

well, i wasn't party to the reasons, but if being un-admined was the final straw, then he set himself up for it. he did only ask for it, and i believe it was only given, so that he could manage the competition.

It's weird indeed that a sticky thread is less eye-catching than a random, normal one! Congrats to the new admins! I think you will do you job excellently, both.

i'm not claiming the competition was a failure. i just remember Orph saying he wouldn't be back if it didn't do as well as he wanted it to/thought it should. with his apparent departure, i thought that may be the case. that's all i meant.

No its not. I swear, some of you have all the sensitivity of a s**thouse seat with splinters. I did not leave because of the admin issue but just once I would like to step down with the same degree of ptroffessionalism that I took the posisition. Every f**king tome I get a green name, some asswipe starts an argument and I lose it before I can return and log in the next time. My green name this time was primarilly for the competition but since I did an exemplary job while I was an admin, I assumed that since there was a shortness of green names actively here that keeping it was something I was going to have to deal with for a while. I did talk to Duncan and Gwil about recruitments.... I assume that this is partly why we have two new faces that are now green. Losing it right after an argument looked like I lost it due to something I did instead of in reality losing it due to its limited nature which was for the competition. It was just really bad timing and I was depressed about my home situation.
My woes are numerous, and coming here is only adding to them, not reducing them like it should be. The childishness of late is just more than this old man can deal with. Whether you all have the ablity to not take what happens here serious or not is illrelevant, I cannot just let bygones be bygones. I am quite honestly tired of having to explain my thoughts to people half my age and with probably less than a quarter of my lifes accomplishments. THAT doesn't reduce their accomplishments, but that also doesn't elevate them to my level either... Online, everyone may be equal, but we discuss things that transcend online. Especially whenever it takes on personal belief systems.
My problems are mostly real life ordeals. The price of fuel has reduced my income to near poverty levels. I am still living in a motor home because every damned time I find a new place, someone beats me to the owner and buys it out from under me.I absoluetely must have a place of a certain size and location and that severely reduces my options when moving. I am not even able to remain online for more than a few minutes because my new 56k modem hates my computer. It literally locks the system up now. My being on 56k is nearly insurmountable and quite frankly, more trouble than its worth since coming here was my only motivation for being online. This place is litterally no fun to be around anymore.
The fact that I seem to have some sort of spyware thats so bad, that adaware locks up trying to remove it. Spybot cannot even find it so I am forced to remove my modem in the control panel daily and allowing the machine to reinstall the drivers every time. I am now in fact writing this via notepad so that I will have some semi-permenant record of my words in fear of losing them to the nether regions of a reboot. It has literally been so bad, that I have not been online more than 3 times since my past login. If I cannot find some way to fix my spyware situation, I will give up totally untill I can again get broadband.
On the plus side, I am working out a possibility of moving to Phoenix. The job I might get pays substantially more and the hours would be reduced considerably. My job however would remain driving but sadly, not nationwide. I would be restricted to the Arizona area only.
I have also recently rediscovered out-of-doors. Since my connection issues I have been spending much more time outside.
My tan lines are deep.
[edit] Good f**king god notepad sucks.

But I've spent less time online and rediscovered the world beyond the internet too
And Congrats Fishy and AtM.

Fishman, you obviously do not need my support for your new position/title but do not make me regret suggesting you for it.
If you are trying to tell me that you have never had something totally unrelated cause you to say "f**k IT I QUIT!" I will just have to call you a liar in public.
The admin position was most definitely temporary, however the timing about giving the position up was not the best. The fact that I am having terrible problems is the main reason for my recent.... bad temper.
My being gone recently however is mainly due to my connection issues... I really do not have any motivation to strive to fix it either, not with the combination of the problems compounded with the arguments of late.
However, lets not trod the path of who's most childish since you and I have walked that path together far to often for either of us to accuse the other of "more"
My belated congratulations to you both. I can think of only a few others that I would have chosen in lieu of.. I can only assume there were extenuating circumstances why they were not chosen.
I am also happy to note that Master Gwil listened to me when last we met and returned to his valued position as headmaster.
My deepest apologies for my recent grumpiness. I will not however be around as often because of the connection issues. (at least that will elevate my participation in ruining someone's day)
The best things in life, aren't things.

This is all my fault - I took Orpheus away in a spur of the moment
decision after a heated thread. This is just to reaffirm that Orph
didn't kick off all hell or something!
However, i'm sure i'm not the only one who feels that both Orph and
myself step back for a while - hence i'm going back scenes and picking
up the code pen to try and get the problems ironed out, while I hope
Jon will take the opportunity of having a vacation from the pit to
reanalyse and order his real life issues.
Whatever happens i'm sure AtM and Fishy can do a good job of managing
thread content and question/tuts backlogs, and in the meantime inject
some life into the community.
It's almost irony that destructive moments gear up the community to new levels, in a way.

If my continued assistance is no longer needed, it is now safe to remove my green name. If I arrive later and its still green, I won't fuss about that either. I can help someone with or without the title.

Personaly I think all members should be admin, apart from a select few who are non-admin. The non-admin should have the power, and thus perfect.

no no you don't understand, we would all get the "power title" but have no power, and the few without the power title would run the site. Think of it like reverse American "Democracy"

Vote Snickers for head admin! As head admin my first act would be to replace all other admins with friends and business associates, then we'd figure out some excuse to invade TWHL. Once we have a firm foothold at TWHL, we'll preemptively strike HL2World before they can build WMDs with materials they're buying under the table from interlopers.net. Snarkmark prices will skyrocket, but we'll have ties with all the major suppliers, so my administration would stand to make billions.
Who wants to be my running-mate?

ReNo, you're a good guy, I like you, that's why it's so hard for me to do this...
I'm exiling you to a remote, undisclosed location in Africa, no hard feelings eh?
Should you escape the jungle and seek revenge, I would recommend against trying to incite rebellion, for by then it would already be 1984 with the world firmly in my grasp and the grasp of a couple other world powers, and you'd end up having the one person you'd loved in this mad dystopian world betray you, and you'd betray them and die a sad, defeated man. Best to go with the flow, not make waves, etc.
Nickelplate can be Secretary of Defense. UHHHHHHHH French Toast, you can be Secretary of State... or something along those lines. Jimmi will be the royal jester, of course, so feel free to pelt him with rotten food.
Oh yeah, and voting will no longer be carried out on paper ballots, it's all electronic from here on out. In addition there will be cameras on street corners, alternative fuels will be squashed by big oil companies, cell phone conversations will be monitored for key words and phrases (such as "civil liberty" and "constitution"), and of course vaccinations for all and "ADD" drugs for the disruptive.
Waaaait a second, I think I'm confusing Snarkpit head admin with something else.... Eh, go ahead and come back from Africa and reinstate Gwil. This job sucks.

We should elect the admins. We have to have votes and they have to campaign, and oh boy! it'll be good fun.

What we really need is server access and some serious recoding, as well

While it would be nice to see it expanded to other games, I've never seen a website that covers a large selection of games be a success (spread themselves too thin?), though by saying that I have probably just given an open invite for everyone to show me sites that prove otherwise
+ I think a web2.0-ized snarkpit would be well worth seeing
